Other rescue scenes that emts should be aware of include building collapses, confined space rescues, trench collapses, water rescues, ice rescues, and mass casualty incidents. That is because they have many dangerous hazards. For example in building collapses oftentimes there are debris or structures that are unstable and could therefore collapse. In addition confined spaces often have poisonous gases or a lack of oxygen meaning that anyone who enters the space without proper equipment will be overcome. Then in trench collapses there is always the potential for a secondary collapse as often a cave in can make the trench further unstable. Then finally in ice or water rescues there is the obvious danger of drowning as particularly in ice rescues there is always the potential of the ice being unstable which could then result in the ice breaking further causing people to fall into the water. In those rescue situations unless they are properly trained or equipped to handle the hazards emts should immediately notify either the fire department or technical rescue and should not enter the scene until firefighters or technical rescue have made it safe for them to enter such as by stabilizing buildings or trenches. Remember you can’t help someone if you become a victim yourself.

Nice painting of the Oceanside Pier. Brings back fond memories of going there nearly every weekend with my Grandmother back in the ‘80s.

My granddaughter is in the hospital right now😢she was diagnosed with syncope and epilepsy, she's been having a very bad flu with high fever and my daughter found her unconscious on the bathroom floor. She had two more episodes so the doctor is keeping her overnight. Praying for my granddaughter and anyone who suffers from this.

Thank you for this.. My son is having some form of seizure activity. However, Dr's are claiming it is syncope. My son has had 3 events now, 2 at home 1 at school. He is 5yo. He had 2 events Halloween and just on Wednesday the first one was when my son was 3yo. My son all 3 times said his stomach hurt. Within approx. 1 min My son turns pale, lips turn blue, he drops as his eyes are rolling to the back of his head, loses consciousness, nail beds turned purple. The second event EMTs saw arythmias in his readings and my son spiked a fever 101. Fever has appeared after the two episodes this year. His arms tense up very similar to the girl in the first picture bent at elbows, hands in the shape of a "C". While the rest of his body is limp. On Wednesday at school he lost control of bladder and bowel which was new. Coming back the past two times he has been unable to respond for a few minutes after. He is extremely lethargic very confused and has no memory of just before. He is also extremely emotional. Yet all 3 times we have been told it's syncope. I even recorded my son coming out of it as well as photos of him in the hospital with pale skin purple nail beds etc. We were told after the first time his EEG was normal so probably not a seizure. The 1st and 2nd time the doctors in the ED had the nerve to say your sob didn't convulsed so it isn't a seizure he also didn't use the bathroom on himself... ugh!! We don't see neuro until April 2023. I am counting down the days. It has been very upsetting as I worked with adults with IDD (intellectual and Disabilities) I worked as a care giver and health care coordinator and experienced dozens of seizure disorders. My sister also has epilepsy, so I have learned a great deal of seizure disorders. Besides that in high school I had syncope I did not turn pale didn't experience loss of bladder nor bowel, etc. I really greatly appreciate this information so much!

A result of me having a seizure for the first time in my life back in May of 2020, just a few months after just turned 39 years old. I was 9 years fresh out of the army and about 12 years since my deployment to Iraq. Just one day up and out of the blue I said blackout. I didn't tell the EMS or the doctors or even the VA that I was light-headed or I passed out or fainted because those were not two words I used and I did not absolutely did not recovered quickly I have about 20 minutes worth of missing time from that accident that I cannot recall. And this one was a grand mal seizure for the past 2 years or so little over going in my third cycle I've been having seizures every 3 to 4 months. Wrecked and totaled my truck.

Also the vasovagal can be from having a bowel movement. Went in an ambulance yesterday because my husband found me on the floor in front of the toilet. Was having constipation from taking meds for pain from a lumbar sprain. This has happened to me several times

Your original picture showed a girl with her hands all balled up. I used to have these from an overactive adrenal gland encompassed by a cyst producing excessive aldosterone. It caused extremely low potassium. The doctors didn't know what was happening to me but when I googled it I found tetney seizures caused by low potassium or calcium. Why don't ER doctors know what's going on?

Yes, there are women who use Viagra to increase sexual pleasure. As a vasodilator, it could increase the blood flow to the groin area. As to your other question, I agree that it is rare that EMS personnel wear safety glasses, but they should!!!! I have worn them on ever call that I have gone on over the last 22 years, I learned my lesson after I was splashed in the face with a patient's blood.

Per National Registry, a patient must have a systolic blood pressure of at least 90 before you can assist with their nitro. There is no upper limit.

I thought you couldnt give nitro to a pt that has a bp at 120 or over that. you said her bp was at 160/90
