    The least precious supplies get used the most. Do I use the brand-name drawing papers I have for colored pencil work? Not much. Do I pull out the mystery brand "trash book" I got on clearance at Ross? You betcha, all the time. Also, there's a lot to like about these pencils: the printing on the barrel is large and thick enough to be easily legible. That pearly paint on the end is a nice touch, plus the build quality is better than Prismacolors.

    See... Great minds think alike. I was literally just working with my ooku set. Actually, I'm trying to working some of my python. Scripting skills to " auto swatch the colors in hue order" but that is a longer running project. Lolol. If I ever get it working the way I envision, I'll send it to you to see if it lives up to an actual "artists eye" for color arrangement. Frankly, my eye is not nearly as discerning and I later wonder "why I thought those 2 colors might be analogous" lolol.

    Blick Artists Colored Pencils are manufactured by Koh-I-Noor. I don't mind the Blick colored pencils due to the longevity in which I've owned them, but they aren't the first pencil I normally reach for when I color or draw. My usual go-tos are Prisma, Chromaflow, and Polychromos.

    This is a very thoughtful video with a lot of work put into it, and it's so true. There are only so many colored pencil factories in the world, and they are quite capable of creating cores to spec, making them different from competitors even though they may be from the same manufacturer!

    I would make a box to look both beautiful, colourful but neat and tidy. I think less is more, the same as a good book cover. This is a beautiful looking set. I love the colours and brightness. Thanks again for another great review and beautiful art piece.

    I do feel like a matte case looks classier than a shiny coated one, personal preference of course. I do love that you get to rediscover a pencil you forgot you liked!

    It would be great if there a database or site that would make clear for the consumer these very similar pencil brands. It’s vox populi that Nyoni and Markart are virtually the same pencil, for example.

    This is why I'm sticking to the big brands from now on, like Faber-Castell, Prismacolor, Derwent, Caran D'ache, and Tombow.

    You are definitely safer doing that. It's hard to replicate the big dogs! I just like the enjoyment of trying new brands and types of pencils. I have come across some real diamonds in the rough in my journey down this road... as well as some real bombs haha But you can't go wrong with a Faber-Castell in my opinion!

    That is indeed a great question. And I wish I had a great answer. All I can really recommend is do a little digging and some research. I have seen some very popular youtubers make some comments that were simply.... wrong. This was the driving force behind the creation of this video. While I don't have a definitive "These are fake and these are real" answer, I am VERY comfortable saying that just because one factory does multiple brands of pencils, does not mean they are all the same. I will try my best to give the information I know on each of the pencils I talk about 🥰

    I'm so glad you mentioned Nyoni pencils because that was my thought immediately upon seeing you open the tin. The quality and dimensions of the tin, together with the build quality on the pencils just screams Nyoni to me. I've been using nothing but my Nyoni set for months now, so it was easy for me to see.

    Believe it or not, I was thinking about that when setting up this video. The only reason I didnt do that is because I was trying not to limit others to the pencils, I was using but rather how I was using them. Then I started thinking how many people would be using this exact set, where the numbers/names would actually matter. Did you color your picture with Colleen pencils? Also thank you for the feedback and I am so very glad you enjoyed the video. 🥰

    I really liked that "weird" camera angle around 27:30. I rotate my drawings regularly when I work on them, and I think that's pretty common for others, too. Honestly, it was refreshing to see it from another angle after almost 30 minutes straight over head. I've heard other KZreadrs mention that they hesitate to rotate their pieces or change up the camera angle because they receive complaints from folks, but I think they just lack visuo-spatial intelligence. The rest of us can handle rotated pieces or different camera angles just fine, and some of us relish them!

    Beautiful!! I like to use colour palettes but.....Do you ever find when picking colours that you gravitate towards particular colour paletts or a favourite colour/s and does it feel weird not using those colours in a piece? I feel weird when I don't use blues and greens haha

  • @sugahsweetart-tv4ti
    @sugahsweetart-tv4ti11 күн бұрын

    I know exactly what you are trying to say. I guess I try to constantly change it up so I dont fall prey to comfort. It would be too easy to start gravitating to the same palette. Because there are definitely a few colors that I want to use in every picture haha
