No sister. Rastafarianism is a whole new religion.. So when some people associate your locks with Rastafarianism, they don’t know what they’re talking about. People have had locks for a long time before the Rastafarian movement.

There is a Imaam who have dreadlocks and a very beautiful voice for reading Surat and doing Azaan. Even a handsome boy of 8yrs reciting Surat. People converted with tattoos are as if they are clean to Allah. Alhamdoulilah, Allah knows the best.

I'm a woman who have dreadlocks, wear hijab. Due to my neurological problems I cannot comb my hairs as my head is fragile Thus, I'm oblige to stay with dreadlocks or to shave it totally which is a terrible pain to me, and depressive way of rejecting my femininity. I don't have dreadlocks for styling or for regard of other, but only to be still feminine as wearing wig is a sin. My ancestors were slaves from Mozambique and Madagascar and were oblige to come on my Island, Mauritius(which is part of Africa) and worn dreadlocks, no they were not Rastafarian, as Rastafari began in the 1930.

OK so then for an African Muslim sister she is not allowed to wear a ponytail in her hair under her hijab because then she would be mocking an animal and she’s also not allowed to wear fake hair and she’s also not allowed to wear dreadlocks so then what is she supposed to wear under her hijab if she didn’t then her hair would be a huge Afro so what is she supposed to do????????

Not every Rastaman has dreadlocks even Selassie never had them....what matters is the Niyah behind having dreadlocks.
