One problem in BG and especially Sofia is that many “bars” here basically dont have much of a bar area and instead mostly require you to get a table or if they even have a bar with stools it is usually too small. So sitting next to other people and socializing is a bit difficult unless one goes to the 2 Irish pubs that are present here.

Once the Soviets finally left Hungarians began to believe in their country and its future. I know some Westerners who returned to their ancestral villages bought homes and fixed them up. Hopefully the villages will be revitalized after decades of neglect! The Soviets just took what they could with no respect and the Hungarian villagers after decades of war and occupational abuse had limited funds or motivation to fix their homes . When I visited in my youth in the seventies there were was no indoor plumbing in most homes only an out house and manual water pump. It’s changing fortunately. I visited my grandparents village and while some homes were well kept with pride of ownership some areas were taken over by gypsy squatters. When the old generation passed on their children or grandchildren did not return and looked at these places as undesirable but again attitudes are changing. My dad’s parents had their farm confiscated by the Soviet communists. My grandfather tried to get it back many years later and was able to give it to a brother. He was not allowed to own it himself though. I love this country and feel a deep affinity to it and know my grandparents were heartbroken to leave but between WW1 WW2 , Nazi and Soviet occupations they left for a better life!

In the last 10 years the country changed so much, there are even channels which showing these changes using pictures from Google Maps (for example, the channel of Borovi Bence). Of course, we have corruption but it isn't that horrible than 10 years ago, and life is way better now. But there are so much thing to do/to renovate or build, it is a crazy amount of work.

Dear Leon, I hope this message finds you well. I enjoyed our discussion about the best cuisine in the world and wanted to share some thoughts on the matter. You mentioned that Greek cuisine is objectively the best, a sentiment seemingly echoed by many Western tourists. However, I believe our personal preferences for food are deeply influenced by our cultural backgrounds and personal experiences. As a Bulgarian, I find our cuisine to be the best, not only because it's what I grew up with, but also because it resonates with my cultural heritage. It's in my genes and memory, much like how Koreans cherish their kimchi or the French their culinary traditions. These preferences are ingrained in us and reflect our unique backgrounds and histories. I think it is true that many Westerners have been exposed to a variety of cuisines from a young age, which shapes their tastes differently. This diversity is what makes the world of food so fascinating. While I love Bulgarian cuisine the most, I also have a deep appreciation for others, such as Italian, which I find irresistible, and Russian, which seems incredibly mouth-watering from what I’ve seen; and many other btw - foods and cuisines... There's a Russian proverb that says, "By taste and color, there are no friends in common," highlighting how subjective our preferences can be. Each nation's cuisine holds a special place in the hearts of its people, and this diversity is something to celebrate. Ultimately, food is a matter of personal taste, deeply intertwined with our identities and cultural backgrounds. It's wonderful that we can enjoy and appreciate the vast array of culinary traditions around the world, even if our favorites differ. Warm regards, ClassicalMartin

In the heart of the storm where the wild winds blow, Sails Leon de Leeuw, to the ends we don’t know. With a heart made of courage and eyes full of fire, He charts the unknown, his quest never tires. Explorer of the Seven Seas, his title held high, He dances with waves under an infinite sky. Through tempests and trials, through night and through day, Leon’s brave heart never leads him astray. To distant lands and islands he roams, From whispering forests to ancient stone homes. He seeks out the wonders that time left behind, A treasure of stories in each place he finds. Though obstacles rise like shadows on the sea, He cruises unyielding, forever set free. For no storm nor siren can halt his bold quest, He presses on, driven by the wanderlust in his chest. With a map in his hand and the stars as his guide, Leon de Leeuw sails the ocean wide. Revealing the wonders that the world hides away, He is the brave heart who lights up the day. So let tales of his voyages ring out loud and clear, Of the fearless explorer who knew no fear. Leon de Leeuw, with his brave heart and zeal, Cruising through life with an unbreakable will.
