I’ve been shooting for about 8-9 years,i go once a month to the best of my ability and shoot about 500-1000 rounds per trip. I’ve had just about every cheap optic and they’ve all broken on me in some way. Its time i suck it up and spend coin on something marine proof, yes its a lot of money but so is buying ten cheap scopes because they keep breaking. I’m tired of dealing with RMA’s,I’ve been saving for about 6 months and I’m currently looking at used cogs. Thanks for the video,it’s definitely a lot of money and there’s a lot of shitty people out there and a lot of people that don’t know there is a difference. My buddy got a facog for 200 bucks against my suggestion, the first 2-3 times he took it out it was fine. Last time he went shooting with me and he couldn’t hit the barn side of a broad. Asked me to check it out,the reticle was in the upper left of the glass and we couldn’t get it to go back.

First ACOG is a type not a brand. The knock off models have come a long way since this was posted. I've found several that put their own brand on them. The original is the single most overpriced optic on the market even still today. Most now run as much as 1500.00 for a 4 power red dot that's only real different feature is the fiber optic lighting. Some of the cheaper ones do now use tritium while others make sure the reticle is etched well enough to still be of use. I got to test the originals, and i said the same thing then. Crazy overpriced. Look through the knock off models. Pitny makes one for less than 100.00 bucks and gets excellent reviews. I would at least make sure they are sure enough of their product to put their own name and warranty on it. No way I would pay 1500.00 bucks for such a simple optic.

Could it be said, based on the comments I have been reading, that the slides last between 25,000 and 30,000 shots?

Tengo una P 228 w. Germany.

The fake is nice and holds zero for ever in my 22lr semi auto rifle. It is slightly foggy but for the price difference accepted.

I bought one exactly like yours. A friend in the Secret Service was issued a 228. Another friend, a New Castle County police men showed me his saying that it was state of the art. Enough for me. I purchased mine right after the newer one with the billet slide came out. (Senior moment , 238 maybe). I only paid $500 for it. I guess the salesman thought that it was obsolete. 😂. I also have a 239. Nice gun but top heavy compared to the 228. Nice tip on the Magur mags. I have 4 originals though. Bought 2 extra when the senile senator from California was trying to ban “high capacity magazines”. She’s finally on her way to the old age home now.

I picked up an Astra A100 recently. They're made by Spain for the state police force. They are identical to the P228 in almost every way, the take down lever and the notch in the slide are both on the right side. Also it has a slightly more pronounced beaver tail and the hammer tang is shaped a bit different. But, it uses P228 "E2" 15-rd magazines and I'd be willing to bet some of the internals as well. Maybe a bit of fitting would need to be done, but you get the idea. I payed $300 for it. It's nickle plated with black plastic grips. And it's heavy. I believe the frame is stainless steel. They were made from 1990 - 2006. Mine is a 2005 and I don't think it ever went into service. It's as new as new can be. The fella I bought it from didn't know it was a P228 clone and didn't know about the magazine compatibility. So Yay for me! Anyway, thanks for the video.

My question is why wouldn’t you check the zero a little more often than 2500 rounds? My second question is why you didn’t tighten the optic screw mount when you cleaned the weapon? Or do you not clean the weapon?

Just bought a prism optic and this mount came with it as a secondary option. I do not like this mount one bit. And do not trust it. Poor design in my opinion. Going to sell mine used and hopefully get $50 back i spent for this optic package.

I purchased my P 228 in 1993. It's 30 years old this year and all original. I retired it and purchased a Sig P 229 in S&W 40 to use as my home defense firearm. As you said, the Sig is a great firearm.

idk much about this, but is it proprietary or simple an upgrade or improvement of design to the standard old design. If is, it will no longer be "proprietary if the general market improves it as well.
