Stalingrad Heritage

Stalingrad Heritage

Stalingrad Heritage exists to serve as a custodian of remembrance and healing, for all parties involved in the Great Patriotic War. We do so by organising reconciliation events like Stalingrad Festival, to help people understand, value and care for the selfless role of the Red Army who fought there and people of Stalingrad, also its significance on international heritage. Patron is Mr Pyotr Alkhutov, red army veteran who captured Field Marshal Paulus.

Back in 83 I was flying a Cancel Check Route, working nights. I would tape this one when it first aired to watch when I got home in the morning. It holds up well for something made over 40 years ago. Its a joy to watch John Housman work.Gee's Palistine is a hell hole filled with flies, arabs and diseases! What a great line you can never write or say in 2024. Herman Wolk was once asked why he wrote the two books. He said because at some point their will be people that will say it never happened with respect to the Jews and the others in Europe

I loved the books, and i am sort of enjoying the tv series except for the abysmal acting of Ali McGraw, Jan Michael Vincent and a few others . Also, the costume department needed its ass kicked given the appalling costumery, makeup and hair that was so not of the 1940's.

Unfortunately Ali seemed locked into her old Love Story acting persona. Just an older preppie. Bad casting.

Such an outstanding cast, with the exception of Ali McGraw, who is still playing a part more akin to Love Story, not this sweeping historical epic of WW2.

I was stationed in Hawaii at the MCAS Kaneohe in 1969, I went one Saturday to climb the mountains just above my base, I found a crashed 0 it had ammunition on the wreckage, I went to Vietnam but I returned in 1987 as a tourist I went back to see if I could find the plane, I found it and I brought back home part of the fuselage with the red meat ball on it..bought a suitcase and took it home I found a piece of history….

I read Winds of War and War and Remembrance in 1982 and watched the miniseries of both. Loved them and have not seen them since. Now that I’ve found them here I look forward to watching them again . Read everything by Herman Wouk, my favorite novelist.

Hitler lost the war simply because his Generals and Admirals were scared of confronting and discussing with him alternate strategies. Alexander The Great was successful because he took advice from his Generals and his men in the field and then formed his battle strategies!

Wow, I love what I know of Ali as a human being, but she is truly abysmal in this. Her acting, expressions, tone- it's all horrible. At least she knew she wasn't a good actress and except for a few things here and there, I assume to make money, left the business. It's hard to believe she was nominated for an Oscar for Love Story- at least that character suited her a little better but I just have to close my ears ;-), when she is on.

Love it . Watched it in the 80’s have this and “ War and Remembrance “ on DVD. Amazing, fantastic! This is a great opportunity to see this on this channel..” War and Remembrance “ the final chapter is reverting!! In parts, more so than “ Schindler’s List” think it was the soundtrack! I think Ali McGraw was with Steve McQueen, too bad he helped nose dive her career. Jane Seymour was very good, though… Ah, Robert Mitchum! You’re right, never had to say much…such a great series! 80’s and 90’s has the best.
