    hi, when I look at the schematic for this L298N, i also saw 2 pin 1 and 15 are SenA and SenB which are current sensing A and B, but I could not see any pin named this on the board, can you please explain? thanks

  • @madangyawali9863

    SeaA and senB are to sence and limit the current going to motor through ic but in this module those pins are grounded to make it universal and doesn’t shutdown if high current is drawn by motor. Which is bad but also good for fresher not knowing what just triggered the shutdown function.

    im trying to run a stepper modal 17hs4401s and trying using L298N only using a a bench power supply .i have kept the three jumpers on. putting 7.4 dc volts on the 12v pin and ground on center, and have out put of 5 volts im using the 5 v to run to pin 2 getting nothing moving . i see you have 4 wires on the 4 pins. the video i have been watching only uses 5v on pin 2. is this my problem. that being said the video that have been watching is just running one motor and its not a stepper HELP

  • @madangyawali9863
    @madangyawali98633 жыл бұрын

    Sorry to say but i didnt quite understand how are you driving the motor. But the power supply part as u said is fine. Being stepper motor it just wont run as dc motor only by giving hi or low to enable pin or signal pin. However to run stepper motor using l298n module is possible. For that you need to connect the 4 corresponding wire to two motor op terminal matching the two internal winding terminals of motor and need to give a sequencial input to drive front and reverse to the signal pins.

    @@madangyawali9863 I thought power supply voltage must match motor voltage. Anyway when do you disable or enable 5v regulator? I still don't understand it. I found information on the internet. It says that if voltage is over 12v it will be used as input. Why is that? Why do you need another input when there is already external input port? This is where i found: qqtrading.com.my/stepper-motor-driver-module-L298N

  • @madangyawali9863
    @madangyawali98634 жыл бұрын

    Paul Sih yes the power supply voltage must match the rated motor voltage. This is necessary for safe and reliable operation but you can sometime escape this when the powersupply you are using has low capacity to do any major damage to the load you are using. And sometime you can use low voltage to high voltage load to perform it slower and more gentle during operation.

  • @madangyawali9863
    @madangyawali98634 жыл бұрын

    Paul Sih you dissable 5v regulator if you are providing 5v power to the motor driver from arduino or any 5v supply source to 5v and ground pin of motor driver. And enable when you have atleast 1.7v greater then 5v or say voltage greater then 6.7v at vin of motor driver module which can enable the 7805 voltage regulator ic of that module.
