Everyone always makes fun of that suit but lets be real here, there was no other face on this earth that could remotely pull off that look other than Jorge Gonzalez. If Gonzalez wasn't plagued with bad knees and diabetes, he would have had a longer run in WWE. He had a lot of heat when he took out the Undertaker at the 1993 royal rumble and legit, made Undertaker look vulnerable and beatable as Gonzalez did it decisively. Every one cleared the ring when Gonzalez took out Undertaker. Yoko had better matches with Taker but Gonzalez bodied Taker. Solid booking by creative but it was brought down by Gonzalez health and mobility.

i'm not sure if the gimmick had such strong legs to go that far , Something as attractive as Max Cady would require care & attention that Only handful of people got at that time like Shawn , Bret , Taker. How do you compose Waylon Mercy's Storylines going into the 2000s or even '97 , '99. De Niro managed to blow some new life into something from the 50s but The Idea of Him has Failed in Wrestling twice now , inspite of the Gimmick being in the Hands of Very Capable men. Dan Was well established in the industry by that point , having mentored Taker himself. Bray's potential was unbound as well. This Character just doesn't Thrive in wrestling , they need more attention than WWE gave it during bray's time , This Character has a Ceiling to it. Firstly it is the Exact implication of a Serial Killer or Criminal which WWE or any company Outright can't Acknowledge , But It Needs to acknowledged in order for it to Thrive , all these stories , these veiled threats , they're the thoughts of a Serial killer planning something sinister & letting you know about it But then you have the words & you have no delivery , How can you glorify "murder" , how can WWE connect these 2 dots & get away with it , All the Darkness Of Max Cady would have to be embraced & shown on TV in someway for this Character to be Taken seriously by the Audience. Bray Was shown wandering in the woods for an entire decade but you can't show that He has people tied up in there , in some cabin in that forest. You Can't Associate these 2 together on TV & it's also what this Character would Require to go over. That's The Problem with this character , it's Too Dark to exist in wrestling & if it's pushed to exist anyway , we've seen twice now how that turns out , A Compromised watered-down slog. Se7en , Brian Has got a Gun , Beaver Cleavage , Whenever Wrestling has tried to Paddle in these Risky Controversial Waters , it's only came to bite them Cause of outside Scrutiny. Great Idea of a Character is Max Cady but i don't think it should be attempted again , i might as well Call it cursed at this point , It Never brought Acclaim to the wrestlers doing the gimmick , that they Deserved. At Best it really is just a Product of it's Time , the early 90s & it just can't be executed impeccably in wrestling.
