    Tried a batch earlier tonight. Went pretty well until the hanging up part. I couldn't get the clean hanging as the video, such as strait and tight lines, mine looks more like Kabul-ghetto-kind-of hanging networkcables, a hamock, or a place for the birds to rest in. Doesn't matter though, as long as it works as expected 😊 will see that, when it's dried properly😘

    I'm in my 70's now, Cody, and winding down, making some simple devices now and then for my enjoyment, and for educational purposes in the website. As a matter of fact, I'm headed into open heart surgery in a couple days, so will be really taking it easy for awhile. Enjoy your pyro ride, and stay safe.

    Awesome rockets Ned! I’m 16, and got into this art a little over a year ago. I’ve watched all your safety videos and explanations, and they have been an amazing help. Made my first ball shells, and they worked perfectly. Gonna invest into some star plates and other materials from Woodys Rockets for the 4th next year. Thank you for your very instructional videos! Keep up the good work!! Much love from Oklahoma!

    Loving your videos Ned, it could be that the others look better live but my vote is on the second one, since they where a bit faster they spread out a bit more, and the burn time was spot on i think.

    Great vid Ned. Is there a reason why you prefer to launch them as rockets than lift them as shells?

  • @nedgorski
    @nedgorski10 күн бұрын

    Thanks. I just prefer rockets nowadays, for the various effects I can produce with them. Also, with a "horsetail" type heading effect, orienting the shell/heading is possible and consistent, versus the random way an aerial shell will display. These effects could certainly be displayed from a shell, though.

    I don't know if you're still giving comments for this video song, what kind of charcoal do you use for these black powder rockets. Is it just regular or airflow hardwood charcoal? I'm using Eastern red cedar and I'm getting tons of Cato's

  • @nedgorski

    Hi, Pat. I use hot ERCedar BP in nozzleless BP motors, using the nozzleless motor propellant which has some mineral oil in it. I've been able to avoid CATO's with those motors.

    I have a rebel 17 ball mill (by extreme tumblers) and I use glass balls and some mini pool balls for the milling. My first milling was only the charcoal and the potassium nitrate for 15 hours (only two components in the ball mill) after the milling added the sulfur. The BP result was not the expected, the bp has no force, the burning is slow. I used the basic formula: 75% PN, 15% charcol, 10% sulfur. I think the mix is the issue, my questions are: Can I add the 3 components in to the ball mill and milling for some hours to improve the mix and get a improved BP? is there any risk with add the 3 components in to the ball mill and milling? Please help me.

    You should try a constrictor knot. Just as easy to tie with a loop. A little more difficult if you don't have a free end to slide it over. For a small diameter string it probably doesn't make a difference. For larger ropes, it is much less likely to free itself.

    How did you come to the conclusion that nitro-cellulose lacquer is "very toxic"? The human body creates acetone while on a keto diet. The main ingredient in many fingernail polishes is nitrocelulose laquer.
