I am buying a 2005 signature Town Car (White) this Friday from a man and woman I know. It has no dents and no rust and has 194,000 miles, but is a good one and of course has the 4.6 V8 engine. I am retired age 68 and am a master mechanic and machinist and already know that drive train being I am aware of your 97 to 03 F150 trucks. Mine has the moon roof and leather seats. I was surprised to find that the seats are as thick and padded as a 1989 signature I owned. Im still in disbelief of how that car weigh 4400 lbs empty curb weight and look so compact.

The Lincoln Town Car was a member of the family of Ford Panther Platform cars which included the Ford Crown Victoria and the Mercury Grand Marquis. When Ford stopped making the Panther Platform cars it was the end of era in automobiles. These cars were the last of the full size, body on a frame, V8 engine, and rear wheel drive with a solid axle. You will not see cars like this ever again.

They're practical. You fix out a little issues than any car that old is going to have and it may drive another hundred thousand miles will I have any more problems not to mention it's pretty cheap to fix the problems. A lot of the late 90s and early 2000s big vehicles had issues with their front end. All their bushings are rubber. A 20 year old car is going to need new bushings creating the 60s you couldn't get 20 years out of any vehicle without pulling the motor and rebuilding it not to mention how quick they rusted out. You buy an expensive luxury car and you're just going to spend endless amounts of money on it. You buy anything from a Ford Lincoln or Mercury on the panther platform and you can drive it forever for very little money. I've owned a couple Volvos and I can tell you, it cost me about 1500 a year just to keep that Volvo on the road. I've been driving my old Durango for 2 years and all I've had to do is change oil.

There's only one thing I really dislike about my 2002 Town Car ... PARKING! I don't have to concern myself with getting IN the parking spot, it's getting OUT. Plan ahead when scoping out where you will park.

Im 3 years late on coming across this video. My daily driver is a 2000 executive series black on black. Found it as a non runner with 90k miles in an older mans driveway. Long story short, it belonged to his mother who purchased new who passed away and was left to him. He himself was up in age and due to health reasons and the fact the car itself needed some repairs decided to part with it. Mostly the common problems these cars are known for with age. Probably the easiest car to work on and the best car ive owned hands down. Its no powerhouse there's nothing special about it but its good enough to keep up to today's standards, its very reliable, very comfortable, not too bad on mpgs, and it was cheap even after the repairs it needed. I owned a 95 town car years ago that was also reliable and a couple of grand marquis before that. I always said ill never part with my town car and if i had to, I would find another or a marquis to replace it.

I must agree it's a cool looking car, even though over all I prefered Mercury's smaller cars of that era, such as the Cougar & the Comet. I love the detail of the taillights,& the reverse lights in the bumper, and speedo! A STEREO radio was pretty cool & unusual in a car in 1968,I imagine?? I would guess that only luxury brands had stereos,as well into the 80's,economy cars still usually only had AM radios with one speaker.

I loved your video and how you shared your enjoyment with owning this car. I have 4 panther vehicles from the 2000 crown victoria, 2000 grand marquis, 2004 grand marquis, and my 1996 town car which is love but hate that I wrecked the front end and although it drive just fine, it is not the same visually and for that I am frustrated at myself for that happening. These cars are beautiful and wonderful cars and love the older all digital dash, but regardless, I like the car and will eventually get one of the later ones that were near the end of the manufacturing cycle. My friend wants to get one and so will I. Thank you for sharing your video and it is unfortunate that they are not a market item anymore.

I'm happy you mentioned the paint that seems to change color. I have a 2007 Town Car Signature L painted in "Satellite Silver Metallic" and it either looks like a mix of baby blue and teal or silver depending on the light outside. always loved the color. i also absolutely agree about resting in the seats after a long day of work. it's definitely my favorite part of the car

Thank you for the review on the ES300 a 2004 ES300 with 200,000 mi on it I never thought I buy a car with 200,000 miles but when I drove this when I realized what I was getting into it drives like a dream pretty much like a brand new car it's still in such good condition and runs so well that I am on almost considering taking it to Arizona from here in the Bay area as opposed to renting a car. I am making payments on it 150 a month and you are absolutely right it is a very pleasing car to drive and even though the navigation system is state-of-the-art it can always be upgraded. One thing that doesn't work is the CD changer that's located in the console. I plan on maintaining this car and keeping it going because so far I'm in love with it I'm very pleased with my purchase. Thanks for your review and so far I've heard nothing but good things about this particular car.

I currently have 3 panther platform cars, a 2001 Crown Vic with 198,000 miles, a 2007 Lincoln town car signature limited with 178,000 miles, that is kinda of beat up, and a 2004 Lincoln Town Car Signature that is in mint condition with only 107,000 miles on it. Not a spot of rust on it, or under it. I went to South Carolina to get the 04 a couple of weeks ago. It was well worth the 3 hr drive from east TN to buy it. I love these cars, They ride like a dream, they're very reliable, and cheap and easy to work on when something does break. Luckily they made a lot of these, so there's still a lot of new and used parts available. I have about $6000 total invested in all 3. I bought the first 2 to commute to work about an hour each way and they've never let me down. I no longer make that long commute but I loved the first 2 so much that I wanted a reliable, affordable luxury cruiser for taking long trips and taking the wife out on dates. Where you live looks very familiar to me, Knoxville area maybe? I'm in the Greeneville area.

Also, my first car was/is a chevy cruze which has sustained a few hits (and it's kind of a POS, but I try to fix it myself and drive it for the fuel economy :P), and sometimes it hits me that I just don't drive a shitbox anymore; that I drive a pretty good car.

The 1998-2002 Lincoln Town Car looked too severe. Something got lost in the translation with the front-end styling. It was too 'roundish' and nondescript. I don't like the way the nose and tail faired-inward the closer to the ends of the body. The rear looks unfinished. I like the 2003-2011 which is more refined and elegant. I like the refresh! The refinement of the 2003-2011 makes it look more distinguished and less gimmicky. The front end styling is dramatic - the classy 'waterfall' grille separates the redesigned headlamps with an elegant flair that sweeps back into the graceful new hood. There's a more prominent understated elegance and sophistication. The rear end styling refresh includes larger, more luxurious tail lamps. The decklid chrome license plate housing has larger, more distinctive back-up lamps making it more tastefully appointed. The rear clip is more luxurious without the awful faired-in design of the '03 to '98 model years. The simple refresh of the lower body cladding makes the entire car more dramatic. Just a few simple tweaks refreshed generation II to new heights in luxury and elegance that generation I lacked. The first edition, 1998-2002 looks like a big old flat iron. The front end design just doesn't seem like it fits the rest of the car. The headlamps are having a battle with the grille - which already looks quite-remiss at something...it is just 'there' - you have circles, a flatness, and a smashing - all swept with flowing lines that suddenly stop, like, wtf? The entire car looks stodgy and over-weight, like a Jenny Craig drop-out. The 1998-2002 rear clip's 'dollar-store' look appears all by itself back there, like, "gee, they forgot all about it - oops, let's slap this on hoping the clients won't notice - " I was horrified when I saw what Lincoln engineers introduced in 1998! They were at the summit of their craft with the 1997 Town Car! It still looks elegantly sophisticated with a timeless appeal - the 1998-2002 already looks dated! (I could choke the Ford engineers that thought up a plastic intake manifold for these cars!) Sadly, these are the last of Lincoln luxury! They don't even make a car anymore...just trucks and those God-awful truck-like things they call SUVs! Lincoln is vanishing - the Navigator can't save them from the doom they are about to discover - LINCOLN SHOULD NOT MAKE TRUCKS - I don't care how lavish the leather-appointed cabin is, nor the high-tech electronic features and accessories, nor calling it a LUXURY SUV - ***NEWSFLASH: they are still trucks and nothing more than trucks -
