    I need a good 14” AT tire for my Datsun 510 which I drive mostly on dirt and a little pavement and never in winter, is this a good choice?

  • @toyotirescanada
    @toyotirescanada28 күн бұрын

    Hi Cesdan510 generally speaking we don't recommend the use of dedicated winter tires in temperatures above 7 degrees Celsius. In addition to rapid wear you may also notice limitations in performance due to the softer compound.

    Are these comparable to dedicated winter tires? Can these tires be studded? Thanks

  • @toyotirescanada
    @toyotirescanada4 ай бұрын

    The Open Country C/T is pre-drilled and can be fitted with studs to improve traction in icy conditions. More information can be found here www.toyotires.ca/tires/all-terrain-all-weather-tire-open-country-ct . Please keep in mind that the Open Country C/T is an all weather tire, which by definition, is a cross between an all season tire and a dedicated winter tire. The Open Country C/T will provide better cold weather traction compared to an all season tire but for maximum winter traction and piece of mind we would recommend looking at a dedicated winter tire like our WLT1 for commercial use www.toyotires.ca/tires/light-truck-heavy-use-winter-tire-open-country-wlt1 or our GSi-6 LS for passenger use www.toyotires.ca/tires/winter-tire-passenger-cars-vans-and-suvs-light-trucks-observe-gsi-6

    @TheSebasss652 La principale différence réside dans le composé de la bande de roulement. Le composé du Proxes Sport est conçu pour maximiser l'adhérence et la maniabilité sur les routes chaudes et sèches. Ceci est particulièrement avantageux lorsque le pneu est monté sur des voitures de sport de luxe telles qu'Audi, Mercedes, etc. Le composé du Proxes Sport A/S est conçu pour équilibrer les caractéristiques de performance avec une durée de vie plus longue par rapport au Proxes Sport. Le Proxes Sport A/S est mieux adapté aux voitures de sport moins puissantes que les voitures de sport de luxe du Proxes Sport.

    At what temperature should you run the tires and what if it's only cold with no snow on the road?

  • @toyotirescanada
    @toyotirescanada6 ай бұрын

    Zmelli, we recommend switching your all-season or summer tires to a dedicated winter tire, like our Observe GSi-6, when the temperature is consistently 7 degrees celsius or cooler. While a winter tire's more aggressive tread pattern maybe the first thing that stands out when comparing it to a all-season or summer tire one of the biggest differences is actually the tire compound, or the mixture of components, that makes the tires. For all-season and summer tires the emphasis is on tread longevity and performance. While this is great for three seasons of the year the compounds used in the tend to loose grip in colder temperatures. In comparison, the compounds in winter tires tend to be softer and have specific compounds that enhance the tire's grip to the road in colder weather.

    I have been buying\driving Toyo GSi series tires since the Observe version GSi5. That is, since the winter of 2007 in Boulder County, Colorado. And on Colorado highways a lot in winter. These tires with the microbit technology have saved my life at least THREE times. Worth every penny. I wrote a review that was on the Toyo Observe website for two years . . . Thanks for the comment Matt. We're confident you'll be pleased with the Celsius II's performance. As you seem to suggest, all weather tires ( regardless of manufacturer) are designed to be used in areas that have moderate winters. For regions that experience harsher winter conditions, including higher snow accumulation, we would recommend a dedicated winter tire such as our Observe GSi-6 or Observe G3-Ice.

  • @toyotirescanada
    @toyotirescanada Жыл бұрын

    Paul, While the Extensa HP II and the Proxes A/S have some similarities they are designed for two distinct types of vehicles and drivers: 1) Speed Rating- The Proxes Sport A/S offers sizes in V (240 Km/h), W (270 km/h) and Y (300 km/h) while the Extensa HP II is only available speed ratings V &W. While either option would fit your needs with a Ford Fusion some other manufacturers may require "Y" rated replacement tires which would disqualify the Extensa HP II. 2.) Tread Compound- The tread compound used in the Proxes Sport A/S is designed to maximize grip/ road conduct in wet and dry conditions while the tread compound found in the Extensa HP II is designed to reduce rolling resistance and maximize fuel economy. 3.) Tread Design - The Proxes Sport has an asymmetric tread design with the inside portion of the tread designed to evacuate water and maximize wet traction while the outside portion is designed for dry roads. In contrast the Extensa HP II has the same tread design across the full tread face to provide a high level of all-season traction. The above provides a quick comparison on the Extensa HP II and the Proxes Sport A/S. Factors such as driving style, road conditions, and vehicle type are also important variables to consider. Your local Toyo Tires dealer would be happy to help you select the appropriate tire for your needs.

    @toyotirescanada Жыл бұрын

    @@alanf5351 thank you for your mesage. We would recommend our 195/65R15 GSi-6 for your Corolla and the GSi-6 LS for your Lexus. The GSi-6 LS is specifically designed for the heavier loads of SUV's, CUV's, and light trucks as well as their performance/ handling characteristics given their higher centre of gravity. With regards to "speed ratings the actual speed that you drive is a lesser concern. The rating really relates to how well the tire compliments your vehicle in terms of overall performance, ie braking, cornering, etc... It's for this reason that we, and most other tire manufacturers, require that replacement tires meet or exceed the speed rating of the original equipment tire that came with the vehicle and which is noted on the tire information placard.

    I just had the lousy luck to have 3 flat tires in 9 days with a set of Nokian WRG3’s that I’d bought new as a set 4 years ago. The tire shop guessed, correctly, that I’d want another set of all-weather tires. The WRG3 is discontinued, so they set me up with Toyo Celsiuses (or is that Celsii?). Too soon to have a strong opinion of them one way or the other, but the other users’ comments are reassuring.

    I just bought 2 sets of these for my 2 cars. I travel everywhere for work. So far snow traction is impressive compared to my other bald tires. The snow tires I had on my one car were very soft and did absolutely fine in the snow. But I need the summer capability too... So either way had to swap them at some point.

    Toyo extensa vs1- 2011 Hyundai Sonata- 45k miles and lots of sitting. 4 rotations In total. Have taken them to max speed on 40k miles of wear multiple times have done great, amazing tires will replace them with vs2

    Bought these last winter. 2nd winter and I can comfortably say these suck. I got them studded and thought I would be set but these literally suck. I'm spinning at intersections while people with their factory installed all seasons pull away from me. Don't waste your money and Zack stop lying. You drove in 2 degree weather for a couple hours. I dare you to put these on your car and come driving in a Manitoba winter.

    Bullshit these are great tires especially when studded. I live in Canada and these perform very well in all aspects rain snow slush and snow. The studs make them better to grip the ice underneath.
