Actually it MAY have been recorded by by Ellington but I honestly don't know if he did or not. When I was in Phil Wilson's band at Berklee back around 1984, Phil said that Paul KONDZIELA (not Kodziela) wrote it for Duke's band when Paul was playing on it back in the early 70s toward the end. As Phil related it, Paul went up to Duke at one point and asked if he could write something for the band // and Duke's response was "Do - Have - At - It".

it's obvious from those who know the Buddy Rich LP "A Different Drummer" that the conductor didn't know that the tune starts with the improvised bass solo by Paul Kondziela and leaves off the strange written introduction..
