Wow....Her standing ovation was incredible. Shows what fkn assh*les are in Hollywood. Most of these people are still relevant today and NONE of them stuck up for Ellen when she was accused of being "mean" (ah, boo hoo babies) All these fkrs are too afraid to stick there necks out. Unlike Ellen who stuck her whole life out to stand up for what she believed in and the THOUSANDS (including half of HW) benefited from her crusade for equality.

Xena was such a big deal. It really overtook Hercules. I wish Lucy Lawless had done the Xena movies they offered her. She started dating the executive producer and started having his babies, so it was clear she was more interested in that than playing Xena anymore.

This background knowledge will help with the understanding the gravity and jokes of the opening monologue. In one word: her monologue made it OK to joke again after national trauma.

The logical answer was that the homophobia was at ABC and that Ellen needs to quit during Disney parts for the Disney head was managing the network at the time and who still manages it as head of Disney, Bob Iger
