This is a big deal as far as how scalping goes. It's said that the English brought the practice or France I forget. I THINK king George or a governor in one of the few big provinces started offering $$$ per indian scalp to help exterminate them.. so the Indians did it right back..bur they were scalping for years apparently

One thing about all these tribes they hated cannibals and left them no quarter. Even if tribes tried to negotiate with cannibal tribes it was usually to gain an upper hand and neutralize them swiftly. One instance of the famous red haired Northern Paiute Indian tribe, cornered in a cave refused to surrender, they were burned / inhalation after several peaceful overtures they could live if they promised to stop eating people. Also if a certain tribe participated continual kidnappings of children from other tribes it would result in severe consequences. 13:23 On June 1, 1868, around hundred Cheyenne warriors unexpectedly descended on a Kaw reservation in Kansas. The Kaw men painted their faces, donned their finery, and rode out on horseback to meet the insurgent Cheyenne. These two Indian armies put on a military pageant featuring horsemanship, fearsome howls and curses, and volleys of bullets and arrows at each other. After four hours, the Cheyenne retired with a few stolen horses and a peace offering of coffee and sugar by the Council Grove merchants to end the hostility. No casualties occurred.

I wonder how many river side villages got leveled by their downstream neighbors because they pooped and threw too much refuse into the river .

There's evidence in Europe and Asia from the mid- to late-1200s that show temperatures dropped -- most likely due to volcanic activity in the Indonesian archipelago -- around the world. Tree ring data from that time show years of little growth, which indicates that colder temperatures were extant in the Northern Hemisphere. The people in Europe and Asia were already suffering from reduced nutritional load -- much as in the Americas -- which made them easy victims for the influenza outbreaks in the late-1330s and early-1340s, and the follow-on Black Death. This period of cooling lasted until aound the 1850s (may have ended a little earlier or later, depending on who you read), and is commonly called The Little Ice Age.

Ancient peoples were not living as ‘noble savages’ in balance and harmony with nature. Plunge pits have been discovered where huge numbers of, say bison, had been stampeded over cliffs to their deaths, far more than could be eaten and were just left to rot.

NO. Indigenous peoples lived in tranquil peace and harmony with each other, and with the animals around them. Deeply modest, wise beyond European standards, with a rich culture of equity toward all the 900+ genders proven by science. They did not eat meat, which is a corporatist lie spread by colonizers. They ate Vegan snacks after a few moments of silence for land-use thanks. Once the colonizers arrived, they created many focus groups to discuss hetero-normative, capitalistic whiteness though an equity lens fostering intersectional paradigms and rejecting white fragility and the false tomes it creates. We all learned that in college. Why would anyone question that?

What a bizarre man, I'm kind of surprised to see so many people here in support of him. I suppose the anti-communist ideals and the intention to liberate so many nations from the wrath of the Soviet Union and its many purges is entirely justifiable but I believe he may have been confused - he wanted to enstate monarchies in place of another form of an authoritarian regime, believing it best for the people without actually listening. To me, his story is more tragic than anything. A confused, mentally ill man, brought up through a propagandizing nation in a turbulent time without any escape until he travelled to the more rural far east, but the damage of his upbringing had left deep scars he wouldn't heal from. He did what he believed was best, and his actions had aided Mongolia at least in the long-term, but I don't believe he was truly of sound mind to understand the true depth of his many actions. Amazing video, I'm glad to have found it to better understand the Mad Baron

It is the height of historical ignorance for anyone to believe that all the Native tribes were just sitting around the fire and singing kumbayah before the Europeans showed up. They weren't. When Cortez marched on the Aztec capital he was joined by around 10,00 native warriors, all of whom were from various tribes the Aztecs had subjugated and all of whom were understandably rather bitter at having essentially been reduced to human slave and sacrifice farms. The Comanche were so fiercely hated by literally everybody else that when the Spanish first showed up in the Southwest, a lot of tribes fell all over themselves to get in good with them in order to get their hands on guns and other weapons just to keep the Comanche at bay. The Pawnee regularly conducted a rite called the Morning Star Ceremony which entailed the kidnapping and ritual killing of a young girl from a rival tribe as a human sacrifice, and the Iroquois were renowned for their particularly vicious, gruesome and creative torture of captives. You can be critical of America's past policies toward many of the indigenous tribes, but to pretend they were all tree-hugging hippies who only wanted peace is farcical.

The stupidity of such a theory and people do not think? Let me put it another way with a few facts. This is what you are askinf people to believe. "Men in the continents of America came after traveling 13.1 square kilometers of Siberia, in temperatures way below 0 as there was the Ice age happening and that is why as soon as they arrive here mutated in hundred of different tribes, some brown, some red skin and created over 700 languages and 4,000 dialects in a few years. Really? I like the Anunnaki explanation in the Lost Book of Enki, After Kain killed his brother Abael, the son of Enki, Ningishzidda changed the DNA of Kain to be able to identify him and his children, so Kain would not be able to have facial hair, and the son of Enlil, Ninurta took Kain with his sister-wife Awan to South America. They lived there for hundreds of years. After the deluge Ninurta found Kain's descendants near Lake Titicaca and in other mountains, the highest mountains so it means near Chimborazo, Cotopaxi and Cayambe. Those descendants spread and great cities were all over the Amazon and in the entire andes. That is why you will find the same ancestry of Sumerian Indo Europeans in most native Americans, and that is wny the language of the Quito's {Kiwa} has roots similar to indoeuropeans languages, That is why in the Province of Imbabura the real name of the tribe was KaraEnki, and all the names around the province are Kito=Quito; Atuntaki=Atuntaqui; Ianaurk=Yanaurco; Urkuki=Urcuqui. In the Humminbird pyramid in La Mana Ecuador the disk of life was found made of materials not found on Earth.

Thanks for this video. Humans can be so extraordinarily brutal, and extraordinarily compassionate. All of us. I'd guess that when it comes to survival, both extremes come out. I'm grateful that we're learning and sharing more archaeological information so we can better understand some of the ins and outs of actual history. And maybe put to rest the overgeneralizations or imaginary histories of the native peoples on the North American continent.

Knowing all that warfare is done without horses is crazy. Now imagine if they did have horses. They would be like the mongols running the plains. They wouldn't be stuck in the Stone age or what's little of a copper age they where barely hanging onto before the Europeans showed up.😅

@World Chronicles in Howard Township, MI there is a pre-Columbian burial site of more than 300 American Indians who seemed ritually killed and buried in a circle with their heads towards the center. The site was looted late 1890s. The U. Of Michigan bought most of the skeletons. Few know of this site. The local Indian tribe there doesn't even seem interested in repatriating the bodies. The site is about 300meters north of Howard-Ellis Elementary School there and is on privately owned land.

The aboriginal people of the Americas were no better or worse than any other cultural group. Humans are and have always been violent. We are also social preferring to live in family groups, clans and tribes. We also protect our family groups. The need to have our genetics survive will lead to expansion, raiding and warfare. If our tribe is the strongest the chances of continuation are greatest. This is not to say we cannot have peaceful relations with a different group but as history shows that these relations only last long enough til one group grows enough to want the other groups resources. It is interesting that natives did perform genocidal warfare as seems to be indicated by this destruction of this village. If you wipe out your enemies completely you won’t need to worry about retaliation, until you expand enough to crowd a new group or another group perceives you as dangerous and returns the favor. To try and paint a people as “Noble Savages” living a peaceful life in harmony with nature is to ignore all evidence of human nature and history. Humans rose to the top because of our tribalism and innate violence. Once we achieved dominion over the lesser species we derived the need to fight each other. It is who we are.

Always funny to hear history like this - we are told the Native Americans were perfect in their humanity and spirt - but they appear just to be humans like all others - not better not worse.
