Any idea why I would just now be getting Tennis toe, I’ve been playing for many years. And I have been in the same shoe model in size for the last three years. Only in the last few months have I been having this problem, and it’s not even on my longest toe! It is on my second toe on both feet!! 😵‍💫

Hi really nice video which I can attest to. I had a bout of capsulitis a few years ago in my right foot. I also have flat feet and a bunion in my big left toe. I was given a cortisone injection and prescribed orthotics. It worked and the capsulitis went away. Recently in late September, I felt that pain in the ball of my left foot after walking 9 holes of golf. So I began wearing my orthotics again. I wear New Balance 990 v5, Can you recommend a golf shoe that will help my flat foot, bunion, and capsulitis, or do you think I can get away with my New Balance 990 v5s?

Thank you for the overview! I have a bunion and felt instant pain while running. Soon after, my second toe developed hammer toe. It’s been about 18 months without getting better. Seems I have a plantar plate tear? Just from what I’ve described, would that be a logical deduction? I also have sharp pain. I initially thought it was a neuroma, and there may be some irritation, but seems it’s less about a neuroma and more a plate tear. That’s my best self diagnosis. What would say?

I have had 2 bouts of Plantar Fascitis in the last 10 years. This time, I recently jammed my 2nd toe in a hard stop while playing pickleball……I now seem to have a mild onset of capsulitis which lets me know it will be worse if I don’t take care of it! Is there an orthotic and/or tennis shoe that will support both? (The fasciitis has improved dramatically since it came on earlier last year: I don’t notice it at all unless I play Pickleball or walk a few blocks….and it is minor even then. Am taping and treating the capsulitis with ice as needed….and not playing Pickleball at all….😕)

I certainly tried to talk to her pediatrician today and he told us to treat it at home- refused to send her a referral to a podiatrist. So I'm unsure of what to do. I did/do everything you said in this video and they're only getting worse and worse. To the point that she actually cries when I just put socks on her- let alone shoes. He told us to soak her feet every night and then lift up the edges until the nail dries. He's talking about a 2 year old like she's gonna let us actually do that 🤦 I hope you see this and respond because I'm pretty much out of options 😞 I've even tried just a nail file- filing it straight and they're still just SO bad.

I greatly enjoyed your video. 3 quick questions: will plantar stretching increase the mobility of my foot and therefore increase the risk of prolonged pain? Can one hope to get out of orthotics after the inflammation has subsided? Approximately how long is the typical downtime? Thank you so much for this very well done video.

Dr Mark green I would love to come see you but I live in GA. I'm In college and I was also using nike free runs and putting a lot of load on my feet doing plyometrics, lots of calf raises, sprinting etc. I believe I have capsulitis. The issue has been going on for 3-4 weeks now. It started really mild and I guess the repetitive stress I continue to put on it makes it almost impossible to walk on hard surfaces. This is really affecting my gait and causing heel pain due to putting more pressure on other parts of the foot. I recently bought some new powerstep orthotics along with some new saucany shoes. Where can I get a custom orthotic made for me?? I'm spending a lot of money on this condition to decrease inflammation starting with nutrition, herbs, and supplements. I'm in college and have to constantly move around from class to class now and even that hurts. I hope to be able play basketball again but i'm pretty down about this condition. All I do is stay inside the house now while my friends go out please give me advice thanks. (PS I had surgery on my right hip due to a torn labrum and bone spurs last year basketball injury) I've worked hard and recovered from that pretty well and this is really getting to me and I'm usually a positive person. Thanks

Absolutely. Minimalist footwear, by design, has very little to no shock absorption. Capsulitis can occur with repetitive trauma to the ball of the foot, which can occur when running without enough cushion in your shoes. It can also occur if your foot is less stable than it should be, causing an uneven distribution of the weight-bearing forces across the ball of your foot. If traditional running shoes do not resolve your problem, we'll be happy to see you to get you running comfortably again.

I had this exact thought. I’ve been wearing them for almost 3 years straight nearly daily and they are very flimsy, no stiffness to them. I think I was stretching my calves in those shoes when this happened to me!

Thanks for your question. There are a number of reasons you could be experiencing pain in the ball of your foot. The best thing to do is to have it examined by a podiatrist so that the cause of the condition can be identified and treated appropriately. Give us a call at 816-943-1111 so we can diagnose your condition and find a treatment plan that is right for you.
