Mine just broke 300k. It likely just started having a head gasket issue on the firewall side due to a clogged cat. If I had the patience to pull the engine and do all the gaskets and timing chain I know it would go over a half million. Engine sounds perfect when I rev it. No valve lash just getting oil on plug #5 causing the misfire. I'm going to sell it and buy a Takoma or a tundra.

Jimmy, You won the bet! My ‘99 RX 300 will have 333,333.3 on the odometer very shortly. I follow the old RX’s on KZread and there is an old RX cult developing out in cyber land. My approach is simple. Change the engine oil and filter every 3,500 miles, change 3 1/4 ATF every couple of years and change the 2 diff oils when I change the ATF. I do the needed repairs at my Lexus dealer when needed and will keep my old girl until the engine or tranny gives up the ghost. Like the song goes “Long May She Run”. Bill B., Virginia. BTW, I liked your short and to the point video

@@theoriginaljimmykicker Jimmy, I’ve been using valvoline 75 90 in the front and rear diffs. My SUV takes exactly 2 quarts. I noticed that one of the diffs is weeping a little so I plan to measure how much dirty oil comes out so I know how bad I’m weeping. Keeping a 26 year old SUV on the road with over 333k miles on it has become a hobby in itself. Down side is I’m driving an old school vehicle without all the new tech stuff that I enjoy in rental/loaner cars. I’ll be sad to say goodbye but glad to buy a car with the new safety stuff. Bill

I’ve got an 04 RX 330 made in Japan, with 173,000 miles… when I first bought it, I paid the mechanic to change the timing belt, water pump, tensioner pulley and camshaft seals, I know you’re supposed to change the timing belt every 90,000 miles, but I have read online people have a gone 300,000 miles without a timing belt change on those 330 engines. Living in Las Vegas means there is absolutely no rust under the car. My RX 330 does not leak or burn any oil. I did change the valve cover gasket and spark plugs myself when I first got the car, and replaced intake manifold gasket. Those 3MZ engines are bulletproof will last forever as long as you take care of them

This one has the 2GR-FE. Chain on this one. I watched a video on car care nut and says that if maintained the chain should last a million miles! Not even halfway there yet! These have the oil bypass thing that's corrected on this one, and the front cover leaks. This one leaks just enough to make it stink. Not planning on fixing it anytime soon. Keep her going, should last a long, long time.
