I buy for a dollar each or get them free. I just toss them if I don't like them. Easy.
I am a new collector of about 9 months and want to sell many of my CD's and LP's but simply setting up the shipping seems a pain in the back side. Dp you have any video's on how to set up basic shipping in the US? Love your video's
dude has my fucking holy grail sitting just left of his head
Thanks for the video! I've been thinking about using them to put some old demo cassettes on vinyl, which is already not great quality, so wouldn't mind some crackles. I also know a little bit about vinyl mastering, so we'll see how it's gonna turn out.
Don’t Look Back In Anger by Oasis would get me, especially if it was signed by Noel Gallagher
You make a lot of sense!
Discogs is a painful website. After you get through the miles of snobby staff members who claim you don't own the records, they have a strict anal guideline for contributing vinyl. It's painful because they don't tell you how to fix the issue should something be entered incorrectly, they just send you to their lengthy terms page. My account is suspended becuase they think I don't own the records that I posted. They says send us proof, but they don't say where to send those photos? If you are patient and anal about records, this site is for you.
My son and I were fortunate enough to see Chris Cornell during the Songbook tour here in Louisville Ky. It was an amazing show. I picked up a bootleg when they first came out because I couldn't afford an original. Your right, it doesn't sound very well.
For 180 gram records (brand new records) I notice they warp only a few days after receiving them OR they are warped from the factory. I have no brand-new record that is not warped in some way, stored in the same conditions as my many used records, which most of my used records are still ALMOST PERFECTLY flat, and the ones that are warped are warped from when I bought them used. Also, the new ones (180gram) are much more susceptible to static. My two cents? Buy the used records. The whole big scare of skipping records isn't really much. I have maybe 10 skipping records I got for insanely cheap used and almost 200 non-skipping records I got for maybe a couple $ more. Still, much cheaper than a brand new record and the sound quality is superior on the older records. Just, take care of them. Clean your records regularly - no matter if they are brand new or 80 years old, or anywhere in between. Most of the time, if you get a skipping record from buying a used one, it will either be 1: Dust, 2: your turntable (stuff like Crosley/Victrola, cheap Audio Technica tables that don't have user-adjustable settings such as the counterweight, anti-skate, and tracking force) or 3: damage. Dust is solved by cleaning your records, if its stubborn ultrasonic works wonders. I've never tried the vacuum cleaners, but I hear they're about the same performance as ultrasonic. Oh by the way, dispell a little myth, if you have a Crosley/Victrola/cheap turntable of any other brand, usually it's not actually harming your records in a noticeable way. The key thing? Don't listen to a song on repeat constantly. That wears the record more than listening to it once thru. The record companies back then would say that about 24 hours or so in between listens of an album/song will allow the vinyl to "heal" and not wear - and they are correct, in some way. If you listen to something on repeat you will wear it equivalent to many plays spaced apart, but really, 24 hours is a bit overdoing it. My records I listen to a couple times a day, usually in the early mornings and then later nights, they're fine still. The key is to not overplay a record - they're an imperfect medium. It isn't a digital medium - it's entirely analogue and will wear overtime. Ultimately, your records can last way past your time, as long as you take care of them. I have records that still are perfect that were made in the 40s, and that's an even bigger deal, because during that time it was shellac, which breaks REALLY easily. Clean them regularly, and give them a break from being played for a few hours, at least.
Background music to loud
LOVE THIS! Not a clue which song I would love to own on gold, but I am always in favor of thinking outside the box. THANK YOU FOR SHARING MATT!
This kinda reminds me of that chrome plated (or whatever the metallic material was) record of Shygirl’s latest album… although that one can’t really be played because the stylus would scrape off the chrome finish 😅 But I’m all for fun collector’s pieces, and having fun with the vinyl format. I won’t be purchasing this one but it’s there for people who want to. I don’t even care if the “collector’s piece” can’t be played; I’d buy a normal copy of the album for that. But the most fun experimentations and new developments with vinyl are the kind that can both be enjoyed as an artistic piece AND be played, like the UV-printed 50th anniversary edition of DSotM!
Pink Floyd comfortably numb how much are they
im more of a sound quality guy than a collectible guy so im out. im also not a 7" guy so its worse for me. no song in the world would make me drop 800. i might do it if they said gold makes the record sound better than any other record in the world. then... maybe.
not for me. no matter what song they press.
there is nothing great about this. This is just an exercise in reissue vanity really----designed to appeal to people who display things like this on a shelf, not people really into any kind of music. And that shows considering they've released the horribly mundane Third Eye Blind as their first release! i wouldn't buy my favourite music in this decorated format or for $800 for it.
You're entitled to your musical opinion but 3EB's first record is universally beloved by most lol
It’s been done before, like… 50 years ago. It’s a novelty. I’m still not even really sure how this is produced but nothing about the process can be conducive to making an excellent sounding record therefore I really can’t be interested in it myself.
I had no qualms with the playback. Can you link me to the one from 50 years ago, I'm curious! Also... technology has improved significantly since then.
How beautiful! I would love any Prince song, but as stated before - The Gold Experience!
Nothing But a G Thang hahahahahahahahahahah
Like the idea and the presentation is super nice. But at that price point I’ll gladly pass. I can’t imagine paying more than $300 for a vinyl purchase unless the pressing was incredibly limited (ex. Less than 10)
Songbird is not the only Eva Cassidy album to own. All of them sound good. Amazing voice and recorded very well.
Circle jerks golden shower of hits
PRINCE The Gold Experience!!!!
Gold record STUNS on too many records review
I’ve got one made out of diamonds bro
gimme emeralds bro
The price is wild.
Acid Raindrops - People Under the Stairs Mastermind - Deltron 3030 Jungle - Andre Nickatina Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta - Geto Boys Return of the Mack - Morrison Three Little Birds - Bob Marley Halcyon and On and On - Orbital Narayan - The Prodigy The Woman With the Tattooed Hands - Atmosphere
I'm definitely not someone who'd buy something like this unless I came into a lot of disposable income, but if I were and had to pick a reasonable song to press it'd be Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House. Now if I could just pick anything it'd be Giving It Away by Mae, particularly the version that I reorchestrated for my wedding.
so stupid..... but isnt exactly THAT the sweet joy of a hobby? 😁 cheers man! 😊 the record looks gorgeous! my favourite tune on such a record would be phoebe bridgers garden song or moon song.. i cant decide
Phoebe would be a great choice. I'd want I Know The End
@@TooManyRecords the whole punisher album on a 12" gold record would be bada$$!!! 🤯
Third Eye Blind is great nostalgia to me and I wouldn't mind owning the album with this song, preferably on black vinyl ;) I wouldn't however know what to do with this golden artifact, but for some reason I really enjoy watching videos of other people collecting all kinds of things. It's a cool piece for sure and I think it's great that people are making all kinds of crazy innovations in the vinyl community at large - Hope to see many more of them on this channel.
Great comment, thank you!
I would want The Cure - Just Like Heaven and Radiohead - Let Down or How To Disappear Completely…. They would have to be signed by Robert Smith and Thom and Johnny respectively for me to pay that price point but I think it’s very cool. Unfortunately I don’t think either band would go for it.
How To Disappear Completely ooooohhhhh man that's now my big want.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of involvement do they have from the bands on this? What is the source for the track they used on this? Personally this is not for me. It’s just not what I find interesting about record collecting but happy for people that find this exciting.
3EB seems to have been very involved through the whole process. I'd imagine they aren't cutting any corners when producing something at such a high price point.
This is so cool! Its hard to choose, but I think Daft Punk - One More Time would be a must own! The silver and gold helmets fit the theme also!
Oh maaaaan Daft Punk would be legendary. Personally I'd want Aerodynamic.
Love this concept... if it was the right song, then yeah, I'd likely be in on it. Especially with the way it's presented.
What's the right song, to you?
@@TooManyRecords Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode. No brainer for me. I'd fly over with the money!
@@Arseyone Amazing choice
Each format has misconceptions. Each format has its advantages and disadvantages. If you want the technical characteristics of a live performance venue (Zero Harmonic Distortion, Zero Wow and Flutter, Zero Contact Noise, Zero Conversion Loss, Zero Coloration, Maximum Dynamic Range, 100% Signal to 0% Noise Ratio, etc) then CDs and digital are definitely the way to go. If you want the detailed organic sound characteristics of instruments [(Tone, Timbre, Vibration and overall sound envelop (ADSR)] then vinyl and analog is the way to go. Saying one is unanimously better than the other is like telling someone which cuisine tastes best to them. It's pointless.
Oh. U2's "The Fly" would be fun.
Colemine Records does something similar to this but not a gold record. They've done it like 3 times, with 3 different bands but I wasn't fast enough to grab a copy. Now people are asking for big big money on Discogs for those copies. Cool as hell to .e
Ooh, can you show me an example?
@@TooManyRecords There are 3 45's that Colemine made that are SUPER SUPER Limited, and super unique looking also. Here's the list. •Durand Jones and The Indications- Don't You Know. •The Flying Stars Of Brooklyn, NY- My God Has A Telephone. •Barbara Howard I forget what's on the last 45 I put on the list, but they are all very unique and very very very limited like I said. People are asking for over 500.00 for each of them
@@TooManyRecords check them out on Discogs
Big miss not choosing Gold Digger as the first single
lmao
😅😅
What song would they have to press into a precious metal gold vinyl record for you to consider purchasing one? Drop a comment! ⬇
it would have to be something from Thrice, possibly Deadbolt.
Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode
Gold Dust Woman of course 🤩
Anything by The Killers I’d def buy something like this. They’d probably do Mr.Brightside if any. Wonder how much the super exclusive vinyl goes for? But the packaging and band incorporation on this makes it a collectible for those really into them and happy for the 3EB fans out there who can pick this up for themselves.
Cool topic! Glad to see ya making videos again.
Thank you Nick! This one was fun to make.
top tip, don't start, its a waste of money. The market is saturated with so much bullshit.
nah, only the uβer-based YOTTA-chads get the made in heaven LP
I've always hated vinyl records, even when I was a kid, that is why I tried to make a tape recorder in the fourth grade, I didn't succeed obviously, but at least I tried! The ticks, and pops, plus surface noise, and the eccentricity of vinyl records drove me (when I had enough money), to purchase a used teak A1500U, reel-to-reel tape recorder, but I could easily still hear the difference between "source and tape", the dreaded tape hiss. In 1978 as an engineering consultant for the "Great American Sound Co., I traveled to Japan to visit GAS dealers and the Tokyo Electronics Show. In the Sony booth at that show, I saw for the first time, a model PCM-1, 12-bit digital processor playing music from the video track displaying thousands of black and white, undulating bits on the monitor, from the same SL-8200 Beta max VCR I had at home, I had to own one of these! In 1983 I attended an AES meeting featuring Marshall Buck who was presenting his new "coaxial two-way" loudspeaker he had designed for Cerwin-Vega! In his demonstration he was utilizing a "vocal-only" recording of a female singer that sounded fantastic with an incredible "dynamic range" and no background hiss. Immediately after Marshall's demonstration, I walked up and asked him what equipment was playing back his recording of this singer? He pointed to this diminutive silver box, and said I'm using a Sony PCM-F1, 16-bit Digital Audio Processor and a VCR. I said how much for the PCM-F1. He said $1,500.00, and I said sold! I built a portable recording rig that included the PCM-F1 and other custom-made equipment that I utilized for various musical performance recordings made on location and I won an Emmy for an outdoor performance of the opera Faust! I've been a digital advocate ever since, if you wish to learn more about my current endeavors, search KZread with the following: "JBL SYNTHESIS CREATOR", and ALSO: "HOWTOHOMELIFE". Nice and exciting TMR label news!!!
I think this is the best 5 tips video I've ever seen this is so good
it's standard to charge fees on shipping. ebay does.
Instructions unclear. I now own 999,999 copies of Purple Rain.
Put customer purchases in a bag that has your store name clearly displayed. I’ve found plenty of places to investigate through spotting somebody sporting a cool looking record bag.
Pleased to say I don’t own any of those records and have no desire to do so…
It’s all about the journey. That sums up my collecting. We need a record store in Wenatchee.
