  I hate when people can't understand nuance; James wasn't all good, or Serious. Snape was also flawed. What they had in common was that, despite the transgressions of their youth or the flaws they still carried, they acted toward a single cause. It's not all black and white. But what Snape did, forsaking any reputable reputation and cleverly balancing a ruse for decades, was incredibly self-sacrificing. It's easy to sacrifice in a moment but, to sacrifice for decades? That's what makes Snape a hero. Flaws and all.

  and I read in the comment section that Severus was a brave man, he was coward & weak man, even when he knew Voldemort kill her lover, he was silence instead of fighting to protect her when he knew they were in danger, neither he was able to fight against james when he used to get bullied by them. Edited : not only that he watch his lover married an another man which is good as no one can force anyone in life to choose, everyone has freedom, it was his foolishness to still have feelings for her when she was married and ruin his own life, peoples should stop promoting this as love, this is not love, a man ruined himself in one sided feelings for a woman.

  Nah they glorified Snape too much in the movies. The scene where he hugs lily never happened. Doesn't matter how good he was in the end, he was a shitpiece in the 7 books except we find about his sacrifice. He did become a death eater out of his own will. He called Lily a mudblood as well
