    I love your voice and the way you explain. I never want the straight answers, just some hint of what kind of thinking I'm missing, or an explanation to a rule of logic I didn't get. Since you lead with the logic, I can pause before the actual solution and just keep on learning instead of cheating. You remind me of Cracking the Cryptic, at first I was 100% sure you were him.

    I solved the majority of the puzzles (4/6) with different solutions. One puzzle had exactly the same working solution for the day and night levels. I didn't actively try to "break" the puzzles, just played normally. I think this campaign needed more playtesting by different people. "Riddles" like the cake star should be completely optional or have an alternative, "physical" solution. "Eclipse" is a very good hard puzzle. Seeing the same map but in another "dimension" and "upgraded" was really impressive. I hoped for more interconnections between the two dimensions, like a star in one dimension requiring some information from the other dimension.

    I explain this from 27:44. The clues 2 and the 4 above indicate that two mines must be located in the upper four squares around the 4. The bottom two squares therefore must be empty.

    If you're talking about the puzzle at around 3:30 the proper solution is to simply activate the clone apparatus, push up against the barrier as long as possible, make you're way to the first of the green gates, and once the first clone approaches move to the second green gate. The barrier will open, and the secondor third clone will destroy all clones. Hope that helps!

    I assume you are talking about puzzle 95, right? Thanks for leaving such an elaborate comment. Yet I am not able to follow your 'path'. How do you conclude that there have to be two mines each on both sides of the 4 at the bottom of the two left yellow colums?

  • @mescellaneous
    @mescellaneous7 ай бұрын

    i found a way to tackle the yellow first instead of counting the greens. so the initial clues in the green section can be derived with the two adjacent 2's in the solved blues. that can also extend from the bottom row of greys on the right towards the middle. what you should have is that the 4 at bottom of the first two yellow columns has 2 mines on the left and right. using the right side of that 4, you can say the top right and middle right squares is at least 1 mine, which means the 2 that next to it has at most 1 mine for its remaining three squares. moving up, that means the 3 has at least 2 mines for its other four squares, and the center two squares of the 4 has at most 1 mine. now, that means that if you take three squares of the left of that 4, and the one square on the right, that has at most 3 mines, that means the top right and bottom right squares has at least 1 mine. now use the 3 to the right of that, to say the middle left and right squares of the 3 has at most 1 mine. that means the 3 directly underneath that has at least 1 mine for the remaining bottom three squares. that means the 2 can clear the bottom left square. i kind of forgot what comes next, but that is able to unlock the yellows for me.

  • @mescellaneous
    @mescellaneous8 ай бұрын

    for 53, in the beginning, the left and right 1 is one mine, therefore, the middle orange and two yellows is one mine. that means you can say that all the other orange and yellows are one mine. with that, you can use the bottom 1 to now say the 4 squares above is one mine (two pink, one yellow, one orange). now use that, and the middle (not bottom) 1, to claim one pink and one yellow of the left 1 to be one mine. that means the other squares connected to the left 1 has no mine. now that the 2 is revealed, use the 2 and the right 1 to isolate the top yellow to have no mine. now the 1 is revealed in that square, that 1 and the bottom 1 mean that two yellows have one mine, eliminating the remaining yellow.

    59:45 work from the center bottom 3 up. assume the bottom right of that 3 is a mine, the other 3 squares is at least two mines, which eventually leads upwards to the first two pink squares to be at least 1. that gives you 3 pinks, which reveals the square just above that 3 at the bottom left with the pinks. work with the 3's in the center to clear the square you initially went for, the one to the right of the first cleared pink square. thank you for the resource. i will probably use your videos again and again. made less mistakes of course, but some i still made the same mistake second time around.

  • @mescellaneous

    i really did not like the one at 11:20, because it didnt seem like there was any way to 'abstract' the reasoning. it's just 'brute force'. (oh, and later i realized it's a lot simpler. the lower row of 8 mines has 3 mines left for 5 hexagons, with 4 hexagons being secured by 2 1's to have 2 mines, so the remaining hexagon has 1. a few moves after that you can do the same for the higher row) so i found another one you can do. the two 6's column wise next to each other leave 4 mines for their associated hexagons. with the two 4 hexagons having 1 mine each, that leaves 2 mines for the 2 remaining hexagons. after this i still ended up having to face those two 1's, but i found another way to think about, mentioned in parentheses. at 19:40, with those 3 rows highlighted, together they end up being 5 mines left. the 3 hexagon has 2 mines left, and the 2 on the right has 2 mines left. leaving a small triangle of 3 hexagons to have 1 mine left. that can be used with the 9 column to fill that column with mines, and also deducing that one of the hexagons of that triangle outside that column is not a mine.

    Ah I see. So the solution to the cake puzzle is to watch the walkthrough posted by the author, because it is impossible to get otherwise. How does the 4 qr codes even hint at the solution?

  • @Htrac
    @Htrac9 ай бұрын

    I think you did Stitches a bit backwards, although it was probably quicker and involved less drawing, but the solution with drawing is more elegant. I started with the pink cross in the top left. You can try whether 2 or 0 mines can be placed in one of the 2 pink squares that isn't an intersection, and quickly deduce that there can only be 1 mine in 2 of the pink squares. Then you do the same in a nearby location, and discover that it can only have 1 in each of them, revealing the 2 in the middle. From there it all quickly spreads from the top left down to the bottom right, showing that there can be 1 mine in almost all of these 2 square pink regions, with all of the the intersection points either being revealed or marked, and knowing that all of the remaining 2 pink squares between each intersection can only have 1 mine. In some cases you need the rows/columns to deduce this but it's quick and obvious. Then from the bottom right there will be 2 squares you can obviously fill in, and then it very quickly spreads from the bottom right back to the top left, like a cross stitch pattern being filled in.

    Hey Tom, I just started Tametsi a few days ago, hopefully I'll not be needing these walk-throughs much more, but for now they're really nice, and very well done. Have you tried 4d Minesweeper on Steam? There's no guarantee of a solution, but the most fun way to play that I've found is 5x5x5x5, with wrap-around turned on in all dimensions, so that there are no edges. Start with 20 mines and work your way up by fives, and develop your reasoning as it gets harder. Oh, and you'll want to use the simley-face button exclusively to get started eventually, because the odds of getting a starting point without blowing up get VERY low.

    Let me try and explain: if you have two clues of the same value right next to each other (i) there are four tiles that are affected by both clues, and (ii) each clue exclusively affects another three tiles on the sides or above and below, right? Now, since the amount of 'bombs' in the four tiles where the clues overlap is the same for both clues, the amount of 'bombs' in the tiles exclusively affected by each of the clues must be the same. Understood? You can even expand that theorie to neighboring clues with differing values. The main point is that the amount of 'bombs' in the tiles that are affected by both clues is the same for both clues which means that the amounts of 'bombs' in the exclusive tiles of each clue are always linked.

    i did not see this! (im playing the game again) i was able to use the 2 3 4 columns for a total of 5 remaining mines. there is a 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom, which means that the remaining 2x2 uncounted square only has 1 mine. that means the center column connected to the 3 has 1 mine in the first two boxes and the 2nd mine is in the third, as well as the two boxes on the left side of that 2x2 is clear.

    Why at 15:42 does it have to kind of mirror the 3? I don't follow the logic of *why*. Although it is true (when I draw it out it always works out like that). I was stuck there for ages, don't think I would have figured it out. Is there a logical way to know that and see it quickly?
