Ben Aaronovich and Kobna Holdbrook Smith as Peter Grant in the audiobooks are the best thing to happen in books. I don’t want tv, I just want more RoL Peter Grant audiobooks. In my head it plays out visually. So happy to see this. I’m not a Dr Who fan. Grew up watching it as a child in England when it first started. Then forgot about it until David Tennant became Dr Who. Rivers of London has completely taken over my life. As long as Kobna narrates it! Don’t ever lose him! Love, health and luck to everyone. ❤

I had a colonoscopy recently. I was offered, and took, Entonox during the procedure. In passing I said that Humphry Davey discovered nitrous oxide. The clinician doing the procedure did not have a clue what I was on about, He was just a bit younger than me, (60yrs), but did not seem to know such a relevant fact!

An excellent travel book, one of the best I've read. I live for writers like Thubron, who trammel the lesser-known corners of the world and write perceptively and insightfully about it.

'the only consciousness you can observe is your own' - I' always be grateful to Henry Marsh for his surgical skills on my brain in the 90s. Interested he has experienced psychotherapy as I am now a qualified art therapist and use actrive imagination to access archetypal consciousness - the way out of the trap of the self- old age included. Genetics is key to longevity I agree and not sure how that relates to the unconscious it has a collective life of its own. On middle class guilt- I subscribe too and admire Henry's work in Eastern europe very much.

Does it upset you that people do things you don't want to do? That's pathetic.

Being hated by the BBC is like being hated by Hitler. A compliment.

Its so shocking that so many brilliant writers have to humiliate themselves for years due to the massive incompetence of the putrid publishing industry.

Amazing. As a young Japanese dreaming about the world, I just happened to pick up one of his books on Central Asia. And his writing just captured my imagination. Then I read one more of his books. That was 25 years ago. Life got in the way…then last month, I stumbled upon his name again, ‘KZreadd’ him and learned he’s still writing. The Amur…life has come a full circle for me, and I’m reading this book by Thubron. Fully immersed in the view of the world he described. What an amazing writer. The interviews really shows what a humble, warm, humorous person he is.

I think I must be one of Ben's "sinister quiet" readers! What a great interview! I wish someone had asked Ben about the overarching story arc of Peter feeling he's being observed from afar ... can't wait to see where that storyline goes!
