    I really liked your presentation style. Post edit narration. The camera never moves. Everything’s in focus. The music isn’t overpowering. The model is great, too. Original design, dynamic detailing. Well done!

    I noticed you used a sharpie in an earlier build, you probably already know this but Gundam have an official range of paint pens that you might find useful.

    It would have been awesome to have seen a side by side of this ship and your Atlas ones. Going forward, if you do build any more ships that are from the same lore base, it would be nice to see them all together to show of the scale.

    Takes me back to the 80s when I was super into scratch building. Starting with a WWI french tank to Star Wars ATAT Walker then to my own designs; kit bashing using a lath and building my own vacuum former. Tamiya tank parts were the best. It's cool that the end result might look like the star wars model but has the personal touch from choices in the kit parts used. I see nothing wrong with using a 3d printer as long as it is used to make parts not whole models. Cheers!

    I use the Affinity suite of software to do all my editing, specifically Affinity Designer to make the plans (and Photo to edit photos, and Publisher to assemble the plans into a coherent pdf)

    Another fascinating video Sir! What type of brushes do You use for the weld-on? Real hair or synthetic? How do the bristles stand up to the weld-on? is it a one time use, how does that work? I am new to the channel, great content, Thank You for sharing!

  • @Sublight_Drive
    @Sublight_Drive5 күн бұрын

    They’re synthetic, but the weld-on only dissolves acrylic plastics. Idk what kind of plastic exactly, but they’re not acrylic, so they hold up just fine. I’ve been using the same little brushes for a year or two

    Great job! My problem with the E-Wing will always be that the bulky look makes it seem more primitive than the X-Wing, but that causes it to clash with the Headhunter, which we already know as the X-Wing's predecessor.

    I love it when sci fi space ships are referred to in traditional naval terms, the dreadnought era in SW and most others.... but in this case the age of sail! a 3rd rate ship of the line would have been a two decked (sometimes 3) ship with 60 to 80 guns. ships of the 4rd rate would be considered frigates from 1750 onwards. USS Constitution was a 4th rate with her 44 guns. HMS Victory a first rate with 104!

    i'd classify this one as a light cruiser, the proportions suggest it's large but not dreadnought sized. but maybe i'm thinking too much in SW terms ;p nice build!

    Just found your channel. Picked up so many tips already (three vids in). I aim to build a warship from the Warhammer 40K universe. Quick question. Is the Weld On the same PVC/ABS glue available on a well known shopping site that is listed as used for plumbing/plastic gluing jobs? It is a Weld On item, just has a different name to the one you are using. Cheers.

    This just popped up in my recommendations. This is so inspiring! I have done some diorama making in the past, but crafting a spaceship like this seems even more awesome. Got some plastic sheets ordered from the interwebs and a tank model kit for parts as well. Do you think it is possible to use acrylic paint in stead of oil paint?

  • @Sublight_Drive
    @Sublight_Drive11 күн бұрын

    I use acrylic paints for most of the process; I only use oils for the weathering at the very end. You CAN use acrylics for weathering, but I don’t recommend it. A lot of the process is going back and forth between putting paint on, then pulling it off the exposed surfaces and leaving it in the cracks. Acrylics don’t like to come off as cleanly so the result is much messier.

    This is great my wife is gonna buy the plans for me soon. I'm building a doll house for a b-day girl in 4 more days lol. Rushing it as much as I can. Anyway do you have a space Bike build? Either Lobo or Batman and or Star Wars type of vehicle. I also like AT-AT type of build if you got an idea for 1.

    have you had a try of 2 things micro sol and micro set being the first they are a way to make decals like the ones you are using look more painted on rather than stuck on (warhammer hobbists are really good for stuff similar to this) and then the second being filling the internals of the ship with some expanding foam to keep the weight down but if you were to knock it or drop it minimise the damage done to the ship because the weight of the blow would be evenly distributed between the foam rather than solely on the joints of glue also it means it'll be a little less floaty which makes it easier to move and control
