I listened to this Album on CD in my Honda Element with my two sons 6 and 9 years (both drummers) on the to school. this is part of real Music Education. that was last year in the spring. many other music since then. just yesterday i put the CD back in, they instantly recognized it and bobbed their heads. Oakland-Style !!!!

QUESTION ? We lived east of the Bay Area and in the seventies had as a kid a big really greened out backyard and as kids the band jamming behind us I was told by older friends was ‘Tower Of Power’. Victor Conte and his brother lived there and you heard all the wild times that are with a band and rehearsing , PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANY OF YOU KNOW /REMEMBER VICTOR CONTE AND HIS BROTHER ???? I lived all through Oakland to right below Skyline blvd at my Uncles and Montclair and all the places in Oakland to the outside , Bill Graham later with the Day on the Greens and artist near Marin County , I still feel the same and went up to Tahoe for years and loved our state , Cool with all ! Just saw them in Grass Valley. Loved them in high school (I was bay area born and raised) but not impressed AT ALL with their new lead singer. Seriously, ugh. And definitely didn't like all the Christmas music they played to plug their album. Did enjoy, however, the O.G.'s. (but the new singer needs to go)

Some of you people are just impossible. If you have loved TOP for decades, you should be GRATEFUL and feel BLESSED that you have had a fantastic soundtrack all your lives from this great band, and that you are STILL able to go hear them live and wait for NEW music from them. If you don't care for a song or even an album, can you not just move along and go listen to "Back to Oakland" again? These guys deserve everything they have earned and I, for one, wish them much success with EVERYTHING they do. "It's Christmas" is a fun, lighthearted group of songs that I really enjoy. It's great to hear the "TOP treatment" put on some classic Christmas music. They did this EP for the fans. For you.

Sell out??? Are you kidding me!? They are doing this strictly because so many fans have requested it over the years. There's no money to be made from recording these days for a large band unless you get multiple millions of streams. This is being released on CD only for their December shows and online because people WANTED it.

@@spootnewton7121 no - this was an indulgence. Diehard fans know this is a complete sellout. Definitely a fall from grace compared to what made them one of the best bands to step on a stage. Not so much anymore. It’s not even good. The track we all heard sounded awful. NOTHING like the gritty sound they built their careers on

The fact that it’s 55 years later and we finally get a funk Christmas EP, don’t you think you should be counting some blessings? Do you make money in your career to sustain hundreds of families for 55 years? 👂🏿

@@lcpowell give it a rest. I have been a fan for quite some time and have seen 106 shows. Saw them 3 times throughout this year. Regardless, They sold out. End of story. They built this band on grit - never sold out like Chicago’s and EWF. Now they have. And they don’t sustain hundreds of families. In fact, they don’t even tour with their own sound engineer anymore. AND, in my job, I have 150 employees who rely on me to provide them with work. They were one of the greatest bands to step on a stage - no doubt. It was going to end sometime. 55 years is absolutely remarkable. It was a great run.

Alright, Scrooge-like critics. TOP does everything from the heart, and I want to listen to TOP while decorating the tree or (your holiday and its traditions here). After 55 years, these old funkmeisters have the right to put out whatever makes them and many of their fans happy. I'm 63, recovering from breast cancer and chemo, and this album will make my holidays brighter. I've been a fan since I was 18.
