Active listening works. Disarm and impathy does too. Always repeat what the other person says and ask them to be clear. Is this what you’re saying? You can also go indirectly for their intent.Ask?

Here is a list of things that he has undeniable done: - Admitted to having seen CP - Kissed his now wife Mila Kunis when she was a child and he was a grown adult. - Groomed her. - Supported his friend Danny Masterson, who was convicted of serious crimes, and had the gall to ask the judge for leniency. - Said he couldn't wait for Hilary Duff to turn 18, just like the Olsen Twins, because apparently, that's every man's dream. - Oh, and let's not forget, he didn't do the responsible thing when he saw the dead body of the woman he was supposed to go on a date with. Instead of calling the police, he called his buddy Danny to protect his career. - He then lied on the stand, claiming he watched through the window as she didn't answer when he rang the doorbell, and he saw wine on the floor, and then left. However, the facts prove the only way to have seen anything was if he entered the house and therefore would have seen the body. So, he lied on the stand.

The triangle is an attempt to appear authoritative, which is neither the same as actually being or looking more authoritative. It is more likely to look pedantic, pompous, and if the content you are expressing is poor, it will look utterly comical.

That arched, "steepled fingers" gesture is one I avoid uncompromisingly, ever since I did it in a public speaking course and my teacher said it was an expression of boredom. Over the 40 years or so since then, observing others and noting when they resort to the "triangle," it has grown very clear to me that the professor was right. People resort to the triangle when they are in a perfunctory, rote, scripted mood, rattling off what they know they have to tell you but is quite "old" and thoroughly unengaging to their own minds.

Y’all I have a presentation on apple pie tomorrow😢 I’m so nervous because I’m not really sure what to say because you can’t use notecards. And it’s literally apple pie, I can already see myself in front of my entire class fighting back tears, shaking, and looking like a tomato while talking about apple pie.

Maybe, but I had a presentation today and my voice was high and squaky for 10 minutes straight. Maybe I had 90 seconds of fear, 90 seconds of panic, 90 seconds of desperation and then I just went round 😂😑

Some people also use quotes or instead of just stating the point maybe ask a rhetorical question to get the audience thinking and to make sure they remember you

I have a presentation this Friday and I’m not ever one to get nervous but I have to present to a whole board of (let’s just say) really important people, very high above my level. And there will be a LOT of them. Anyway, thinking about it has literally caused me to have lost hours of sleep every night this whole week 😅
