aim assist on controller is probably about 60% less than any CoD made in the last 10 years. Which means that in these input only lobbies (all controller players), the good players are REALLY good. So I found myself in sweatier lobbies than CoD. It felt like Ranked CoD actually. On top of that, I've got a 1gig wired up/down connection, yet consistently found myself playing on Central or West coast servers for some reason, usually with 70-100 ping. And it showed. It felt like X was a knockoff. And CoD is a shitty Casio. I just didn't see the point really. It just inspires me to be more patient waiting for Assassin's Creed and GTA6. At which point I'll toss CoD and Xdefiant FPS games a bottle of whiskey and some Ambien and say, "Have fun guys, seeya later."

I think you’re selling yourself short when you dismiss an incredible game like AW2 that has fantastic graphics, a great story and good gameplay - with pretty much no agenda - just because they didn’t recast the same person they used for a short clip in a different game years ago. It’s your freedom to play what you want though, but it feels like it’s limiting.

MrMattyPlays said he beat the game in a little over 5 hours plus countless other saying the same that they beat the game around the 5 to 6ish hour mark. Insomniac and the other Studios you mentioned when comparing the size of dev. teams you do forget they do work on multiple games. The Ninja Theory has worked on Hellblade 2 only for the last 5 years or more. MS and Ninja Theory should have marketed there "GAME" and an interactive movie. It's a very linear game combat is 1 on 1 you can do more with the graphics i suppose. For those that enjoy interactive movies i think Hellblade might or is a really great game but for people that prefer gameplay over graphics gamers aren't getting much of an experience from this game. It would have been great if this game would have great gameplay and the graphics it already has. Hellblade 2 is very divided in the gaming community and that's unfortunate and i hope the MS doesn't close down this studio we call can just hope that doesn't happen.

We can't really base it on the quickest that people finished it. According to HowLongToBeat the vast majority who didn't do any side stuff at all finished it in an extra 1.5, which is a significant amount more when you're talking about 5 hours. Main Story 6½ Hours Main + Sides 8 Hours Completionist 9 Hours All Styles 7½ Hours Most of the numbers I pulled for the team sizes were based around the actual number working on the games, and also as I mentioned in the video - they weren't actually working on the game for 5+ years at all.

@@whatsgood-reviews We can only assume how long Ninja Theory was working on H2 as we don't have an official statement from them on how long they were working on the game. Even if it's 6 hours or 7 hours for the main story, $50 USD is still a lot they are asking for though this might be very subjective to some it's worth the money. And Yes we should be able to judge and base how long it takes to get through the main story as for most people from a ton of reviews 5, 6 or 7 hours is short wouldn't you agree when you paid 50 USD for? There are other games out there that are worse and have even less playtime so i think we can judge a video game based on the main story playthrough runtime.

Its not just that its short, but it is also very repetative and has a ton of time wasting mechanics. They have the very impressive movie stuff and then they put a bunch of filler between those to strech it out it is basically less than a movie long cutscene and filler around it that consists of walking, crawling and the most basic puzzles for babies we have seen many times before. So the biggest part of this short game is lazy and uninnovative. I have zero respect for reviewers who dont adress that because they are dazzled by a cinematic or graphics.

I'm personally loving it, it's more of the first game, and that's why I love it, I can see why people are complaining, but it's perfect for me, maybe they could have made a few more changes, but I don't feel it's necessary, I never l;ike it when they add so much it's nothing like the first, (I'm looking at you Bayonetta 3 with your side scrolling side games grrrrr .... anyhoo I will give it a few playthroughs, my first I'm just wandering about enjoying the world, the second to see how fast I can get through it, then with UEVR for the full immersive experience, I disagree with the "it's a movie" statement, It's a silly argument as there are actually not that many cut scenes, I'm enjoying the story and actually finding some parts quite intense, each to their own. Glad to hear your balanced review, I'm sure most of the video's I have seen outright trashing this game seem to have the argument "Microsoft studio baaad", or "its not on playstation hence baaad" and not much else.

It's crazy that the idea of a game being an "interactive movie" is used as an insult these days. If you suggested the idea of an "interactive movie" to the average person 30 years ago, you would have blown their mind. We've become so accustomed to thinking of it as "good" that a game has more options, more weapons, and more freedom, but doing so also limits the developers in other ways, especially in storytelling. There should be space in the industry for both extremely "game-y" games with lots of choices and difficulty, as well as ones that just let you experience a unique creative vision with a limited amount of interaction. Personally, I wish there were more AAA games that were short, focused, cinematic experiences.

Because what is the point of playing a fucking game that could just BE a movie. THAT is the point. The Order: 1886, Beyond: Two Souls, Heavy Rain, so many games where even IF the story is good, the medium is absolutely wasted on the projects. There are games where the experience is limited and linear but very enjoyable, such as The Banner Saga, Stories Untold, What Remains of Edith Finch. They understand the experience they're setting out to make, but take advantage of the medium they inhabit. They are not just making an interactive film, because that's a waste of time.

Alan Wake 2 looked about as good as this game, and Remedy made that on their in-house engine, Northlight, and it was 18 to 20 hours long and took less time to make. Microsoft didn't advertise this game because they knew it was underwhelming, and spending marketing money would have been wasteful because it would have caused them to lose even more money. I am a PC player and have an RTX4090 so I am maxing both games graphics to their full potential and while Alan Wake 2's visuals are not quite as good as HB2, it is stunning never the less and far better than most other games. HB2 does have much more immersive audio. but Alan Wake 2 offers you so much more in every other way after visuals and audio are compared. It gives you multiple open environments and way more interaction with the environment and characters. On top of this, it has 20 hours of gameplay and replayability, just to name a few. HB2, while beautiful and sounding great, is not even close to being on the same level, so how people can give it anything more than a 7 out of 10 is not being realistic or fair because Gameplay is far more important than than graphics and audio, and HB2 has virtually no gameplay and the puzzles in it are mind-boggling easy and only seem to exist to extend the incredibly low game time, as they offer little else to the story. While the story is great, it seems to be over just as it is beginning. So again, how this game blows anyone's mind or is called a masterpiece is just not realistic.

@@therealjasonmurraySome nice points! Man, Alan Wake 2 really is fantastic. As for Hellblade, it really is mind blowing from a technical perspective, it's just on its own level, but yeah I consider Alan Wake 2 to be one of THE best games I've seen so far, absolutely incredible in its way, and I think its a shame that Hellblade didn't up the gameplay aspects significantly . That said I think it must be noted that the difference in team size can make a big difference, 130 for Alan Wake 2 and 80 for Ninja Theory, that's only 30 people away from being double the size. They announced the game in 2019 before any work was done, then covid hit and they were moving office, so they only started on it - and under covid restrictions - in 2020, which really leaves 4 years, and in that time there were restrictions in place around development that needed TONS of motion capture with people together. Another aspect is that they were tasked with learning Unreal Engine 5 which has apparently been quite a hurdle for many developers, and then lastly as I mentioned before, the level of visual fidelity and the realistic locations, photogrammatry is a significant resource investment. So while Alan Wake 2 still looked really great, it's quite a difference between really good looking characters and pretty environments, and Hellblade's massive true-to-life and photo realistic environments any hyper realistic animations and characters. My point really is that I think you make some good points, but if you really take into account that it was 80 people in 3 and a bit years on a new engine and trying to really achieve visual quality that we've not really seen before... It actually makes a lot of sense... HOWEVER, I really wish they spent more time to evolve the gameplay more, maybe make a few more great puzzle ideas or mechanics etc

The game is ok, the only thing is that it took too long to make.

Production actually only started in 2020 and they had Covid restrictions to deal with, so not too bad

@@OkIsAPerfectResponse well people maybe also forget that Ninja Theory is a team of 80 people that did this in around 3.5-4 years. Santa Monica studios that made God of War is 250+ devs for example, over 2000 people worked on The last of us 2, insomniac is around 520 devs. Ninja Theory is pretty small.
