#smallsoapchannel #handmadesoap #soapmaking
Hello and welcome to our channel! Here at The Skin Candy we make handcrafted soap, bath bombs, lotions, creams, shampoo bars & much much more.
My daughter and I started The Skin Candy in 2016 when we were both really suffering with severely dry cracking skin due to 1. The extremely dry area where we live and 2. Eczema.
A lot of what we do here on the channel is making products for wholesale accounts as well as our own online bath & body shop.
If purchasing wholesale products is something of interest we invite you to visit our shop on Faire: www.faire.com/brand/b_m7bhscbg3q

Gorgeous soap !!!!! well done , love the swirls
I've seen some use a lined pringels chip can. Also, what SF do you use? When I tried making other dish soap recipes, I had water spots.
I didn't like the pringle's can - mostly because it meant I had to buy them and eat them. I don't need any more temptation than I already do! LOL I do a 0% SF on my dish soaps. I haven't had an issue with water spots but I do have soft water so that may help. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Thank you! 😊
This looks like so much fun!! Gorgeous and I enjoyed the music!
Thank you so much!!
That is a heavy duty hanger swirl tool.😮
My husband made it for me. I tried using one of those flexible wires and it just didn't work for me so my hubby found some stainless steel rods and welded this for me. I absolutely love it! Thanks for watching! :)
add 4 heaping tbls of powcered sugar and it will moy tice on you :) you add it to your oils before the lye
I tried using powdered sugar to my water and I didn't like the results as powdered sugar has cornstarch in it and it affected the results of my soap. Maybe a confectioner's sugar would work? It is a lot more fine than regular sugar...something for me to think about. Thanks for the suggestion & thanks for watching! :)
@@theskincandy I am sorry, I use goats milk in mine. And ouch i mentioned it to others to that now I need to let them know what you told me.
Your soap is awesome but your lighting is terrible
Yes you are right the lighting is not great but as I state in my description I am a professional soap maker and NOT a professional videographer. I run a very busy working soap shop and some days I make soap and don't have the time to set up all of my lights. Making the videos better is something I am working on.....slowly but its really not on my high priority list. Thanks for watching.
I understand. Subscribed 👍
These are GORGEOUS❣️❣️❣️❣️
These are BEAUTIFUL!!!!
So pretty!!!
Thank you!!😍
Nice soap! The fragrance sound amazing. Where did you buy your soap cutter? I love the size. Thanks for sharing.
I actually bought this from another soaper several years ago. The maker was a shop based out of Russia and they seem to be no longer on Etsy. I do however, have 2 other cutters from this shop: www.etsy.com/listing/707305008/metal-soap-cutter-1-18-bars?click_key=9e802e2a102dfe8c15435f93a723b8634c881554%3A707305008&click_sum=0fae92c9&ref=shop_home_recs_6&crt=1&sts=1 This listing is for the 1 1/8" which is the size I use in this video. Happy soaping!! Thanks for watching! XO 😀
@@theskincandy thank you. I will check the shop out
If you try it again, I would use red for your white as it might make an orange. Either way, the bars look cool!!!!❤
Good idea!! Thanks for the suggestion! Thanks for watching!😀
I looked at making 'from scratch' and it would have cost me £17 per kg....compared to £8 - £10 'ready made'.....It's a no brainer...but it ready made. I will only make from scratch when I want to offer it as a luxurious product with a higher price tag and I haven't got the demand for it 'yet'....x
I totally agree with you - Its about my time and how much I can spend on making products from scratch. When I sat down and really looked at how long it takes to make a batch from scratch it was hours to minutes as far as time. I can have a batch whipped up in under 15 minutes when I use the ready made. Thanks so much for your comment & thanks for watching! 😀
@@theskincandy Aw, totally understandable. I know someone who makes it from scratch and she says it takes her a full day to make the amount that she needs - it just 'ties up' your time too much I think. The ready made base is so much more convenient. Aw, no problem at all, thanks x
Maybe use the fragrance oil without the beewax, the batter was already thickening before the fragrance oil.
I used beeswax in the soap as it was as requirement from my client. I probably should have said that in the video. LOL So several things were going on with this soap that I did not realize until about a year after filming this....1-I was using beeswax & 2- I was using Olive Oil Pomace which brings your batter to trace much much quicker. Since changing back to Olive Oil I have not had the issues with the acceleration. If I remember correctly it did still rice very slightly but nothing I could not work with. I have not used this fragrance oil in several years now. Maybe I need to give it a go again! Thanks so much for your comment and thanks for watching!
Hello. keeping a yogurt next to you for when you want to loosen up your batch to work with it is easy. I do love the colors :)
Great tip! I didn't realize that you could do that. I have seen yogurt used in hot process soap as a super fat but never thought it could be used in CP soap. I am going to try this on the next batch. I said I wasn't going to use it again in soap but its been so popular that I think I will try again. Thanks so much for the tip and thanks for watching!! 😀
@@theskincandy You are very welcome. I do love your soaping
These are soooooo beautiful!!! Such SHINY tops, and with no water discount 😮!!!!
I did use a steamer on them prior to cutting. They did seem a little dull but they didn't have soda ash on them as I had expected them to using full water. Thanks for watching and your wonderful comments!! 😍😀
@@theskincandy absolutely! Thank you for sharing!!!
Oh oh, I have soap drying here, with oatmeal on top!!
Hey to each their own - I don't like botanicals or oatmeal on my soaps but that doesn't mean you can't use them! If you and your customers like them than that is awesome! I am a weirdo I think - I see a lot of soap makers who add things like that to their soaps and they are very popular. Keep doing what you think is best for you! Take care & thanks for the comment!😀😀
That fragrance makes great wax melts. I would like to try Woodland Hideaway in soap😀
It's so good! Woodland hideaway is my next soap I am making! Watch for the video! 😍
I don’t like botanicals on top either! I don’t want to dig stuff out of my shower. Digging my hair out is enough!😂
You don't know HOW much I love hearing that. I see so many soap makers adding botanicals to not only the tops but in their soap and it seriously makes me gag a little!! LOL No botanicals in my soaps!! Thanks for watching!😀
@@theskincandy 100 agree! If someone asked me for them, I’d tell them yes, but they would have to buy the whole loaf and I would tell them why I do not do them.
No…. love infusion❤ don't like botanical in my shower
That makes my heart feel so good to hear! I just kept wondering if my sales were suffering because I wasn't adding botanicals. Infusions all the way! I have rose infused olive oil as well as some calendula & rosemary. I think I have some dandelions infusing as well....I need to go find that! Maybe I will be doing a dandelion soap here very soon. :) Thanks for watching!
Hi! Yep...goatsmilk accelerates the heck out of my soaps. I have learned to soap much cooler when I use it. It looks great, tho! I bet the smell is amazing!
I have been using goats milk for awhile and I haven't noticed as much acceleration as I have the over heating. I do soap rather cool. It does smell amazing and is one of my best sellers this year. I am going to make another batch without any milks to see if it is the FO or the goats milk that caused the acceleration. Thanks for watching and for your comment - I really appreciate the feedback!
Love watching.
AWWW - Thanks so much! It makes me so happy to hear that you enjoy my videos. Thanks for your comment and thanks so much for watching!!
+++++++++++++++++++ I use a pancake batter dropper for loading my jars.....NEVER will you get a drop anywhere but in the jar!!! Yeah...I'm lazy but, its much quicker than a scoop or anything else. Hope this helps. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
OMG - I never thought of using that! I use one for my candles and I LOVE IT - Heading to Amazon to purchase another Pancake Batter Dropper!!! Thanks so much for the tip! Thanks for watching and the comment!! XO-Lynette😍😀
Beautiful!
Thank you so much! This is such a fun soap to make and I love how each time it turns out different! Thanks so much for watching!😍
Ils sont beaux ❤
Thank you so much - This smells amazing and the colors have stayed this vibrant after almost 4 weeks! Thanks for watching! Cheers!! 😍
I love these!!!!
Thank you Diane! You always say the kindest things. These ARE amazing and the scent....oh the scent is so good. They will be up on the website in a few weeks. Keep an eye out and grab one if you can....they won't last long! 😀
Really pretty❣️❣️❣️❣️ I bet they smell amazing❣️❣️❤️
Thank you so much! They do smell amazing. I love how refreshing they are! Thanks for watching!! 😊
Hello Lynette! Very nice to meet you! I’m Tracy and have really enjoyed watching your videos. I’m not a soap maker but I dream of it 😊
Hi Tracy - So nice to meet you too! Welcome to the channel. Soap making is so much fun. I absolutely love what I do and if I stop selling products I will always make soap. Let me know if you ever have any questions or need help along the way to get you started on your soap making journey. 😍
SOOOOOOO PRETTY!!!!
Thank you so much! 😀
Very pretty
Thank you! 😊
This looks lovely. Stephensons states that this base can only have a total of 3% extras added to it, maybe thats why it looks runny??
It pours runny but then thickens up really nicely. I haven't had a batch yet that has stayed runny. I love that it's runny when I pour it into my jars as it make it so much easier. Once I am done with my stash I won't be offering whipped soaps or the whipped sugar scrubs as they haven't been a good seller for me. They are currently available for 50% on my website. www.theskincandyllc.com/collections/home-page-collection/products/foaming-whipped-soap or www.theskincandyllc.com/collections/home-page-collection/products/whipped-sugar-scrub-soap-body-wash Thank you for watching and thank you for your comment!
Fun love it
Thanks so much! Happy you enjoyed it!
These turned out FABULOUS!!!!
They did - didn't they? And they smell as amazing as they look! Already almost sold out. Sold 4 to family last night! LOL Thanks for watching and your always kind uplifting comments!
Beautiful
Thank you so much! This soap is so much fun to make and it smells amazing! Take care and thank you for your comment!
I think the video is great. It's nice to see you. I love that you moved out of your comfort zone to make this video. I applaud you. I watched your patriotic soap video and I love it so much. When I emailed you to ask for advice, you responded immediately. I am impressed! Keep planning! Keep doing what you are doing! I wish you the best success in 2024. I've subscribed and am excited to be following you and learning from you.
Thank you so much! This was really scary for me. I have been on a weight loss journey for the past year and have lost 50 pounds! The past couple of years I would avoid photos at all costs because I was so self conscious. I am still really shy about getting in front of the camera but kind words like your make it much easier! Please let me know how the Patriotic Soap goes - I can't wait to see it! XO
Thank you for sharing! It is always wonderful to see the fragrances true performance! I think they will be pretty!!!!
They still smell amazing after several weeks curing and the color isn't horrible BUT I know what I will do different next time. Making soap is like life - always a learning experience! Thanks so much for watching!! XO
I see so many soap makers with these white pour bowls. But I cannot find one for the life of me, at least thats PP5 rated plastic. Thank you for sharing your recipe
Are you in the United States? I got these from the Dollar Tree. I have seen them in several different colors. Mine carries them in red & white but I have seen them in pink and a few other colors. You can order them and have them shipped to you if you are not near a Dollar Tree. Here is the link: www.dollartree.com/plastic-mixing-bowls-with-handles-2frac12-qt/858618. Thank you so much for watching!! :)
Superb!!!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the podcast just downloaded. I love true crime. Can’t wait to see the soap.
I am getting photos uploaded today. Sorry for the delay - we went out of town so I could visit my Mama & siblings. The Podcast is really good and I will leave more suggestions in future videos as I find them. Love me some true crime! 😂
Trying to get some photos uploaded. I will create a post. Sorry again for not having the cutting - IMO its the BEST part! :)
Ohhhhhhh! Can we see the cut soap? I bet it is BEAUTIFUL❣️ You now have me going to listen to a new podcast ❤😬

The soap is so beautiful thank you for sharing. Can you tell me what company you used to order your stamp for your soaps?
I used a company on Etsy called 3DMCrafts. Here is a link to their shop: www.etsy.com/shop/3DMCrafts Thank you so much for watching! Happy New Year! 😍

Thank you sooooooo much for sharing this!!!! I would have thought I had done something CRAZY WRONG! The soap still turned out beautiful!
You are MOST welcome! It was a shock for sure. It is still very beautiful and I have not had one question on the color. My customers love that the colorant is from clay so its a win win for me! Thanks for watching & thank you so much for your comment! 😍
That is AWESOME that there was no cracking!!! Did you CPOP THIS? They are BEAUTIFUL and I bet they smell FABULOUS!❤
I did not CPOP this but from how bright the colors turned out I am sure it went through gel phase on its own. It does smell amazing and is one of my best year round sellers. Thanks for watching & thanks for the comment! 😊
