I read a book by Jerome Hines (a world- renowned operatic bass and classical Vocal Instructor) called The Four Voices of Man. In this book something grabbed me in the introduction which I never forgot and made me strive to be better at what I do as a teacher. He spoke about how he was not just presenting and talking theory but actual "pragmatic experience or demonstrable fact." This is something that I learned the hard way $$$ from going to so many "expert vocal coaches" and "Maestros." The thing is if they cannot practice what they preach and demonstrate, they are merely presenting ideas, opinions, and theories. These opinions might hold weight might not.
As a final thought I would just like to say in the words of Mr. Hines "I will not suggest you do anything that I (now in my mid 40′s) cannot do myself.. If anyone wishes to challenge me on these matters I will simply suggest they meet me face to face and do with their voices the things I do with mine. "

I would like to know if "Soldier of the light" was meant to be on TNT album
Are you related to Moriah Formica? I want to sing like her!
@@learningstuffontheyoutube no but that would be cool

Hahahahah😅😅😅😅
Good stuff Daniel
Que maravilla de entrevistados ….. bravo Jose y gracias desde España.
How is that possible? Two of my followed favourite singers have a chat, what a luck!
fascinating stuff
Is the raising of the soft palette a good thing…… or a bad thing?
@@MarkBennett007 each vowel will raise it differently don’t force it
Learning a lot from you two! Would be so cool to get Jack LiVigni on here some time too!
We’ve all been on the zig zag. I’ve learned to love the trial and error process it takes to develop. Just like the gym 🤘🏻💪🏻
49:00 the crack😊😊. thanks DF!
When he described this zigzag pattern of development - I felt that. It is reassuring that this seems to be a normal phenomenon for singers.
Great interview…… Great abilities
Love these man - always learn something from you and the folks you talk to.
Great interview! Entertaining and Informative.
Thanks Daniel. Always informative to watch these.
MORE of this mutha fu**in sh*t!! Awesome!

Thanks man I need to hear this occasionally
But why do we do this?
Gentle edge cord closure
@@danielformica-yourvocalteacher thanks for the reply. Does it help with breath control and a bit of grit in your voice as well?
@@11KT11 it could but I wouldn’t think of it like that
These interviews are great
Thanks!!
Very interesting
Hey Daniel, great video! So to make sure i understand what you’re saying, first we inhale, and then when we sing, as we expend air to sing, we still have to maintain the position/posture of when we just inhaled? And what’s right way to think about airflow? From your video it seems that whenever you sing, you think of leaning on your lower abs? So that means that your lower abs never come in when you sing like how some other teachers explain support? Am i missing anything? I’m currently very confused because there are many schools of thought when it comes to support/appoggio. In short, when you sing, you maintain the inhaled position (which should be tiring right? at least for beginners?) while leaning against your lower abs.
That sounds about right
@@danielformica-yourvocalteacher yay! Thanks!
Wow great voice sing t whole Chris song for us please 😮😢
Thank you here’s one from a live gig so it’s got mistakes but it’s a whole night of singing stuff like this kzread.info/dash/bejne/i22ftMGMj7fKh7Q.htmlsi=2t42Lg5YmVLzPj9q
Hello. How can I avail your voice lesson coach?
Goto www.yourvocalteacher.com you can find booking info thanks for checking in
We're italian
So it's like going to the bathroom except that you're not grunting or feeling tension in the throat?
Like peeing but not super hard. If the stomach is trying to come in you lean against it not push it
Yes
You said in your other video that you inflate like a barrel, especially the ribs, and really don’t let this structure fall throughout the entire phrase, right?
you talk a lot about the inhalation of surprise, but it is always done through the mouth, but I also heard about a short inhalation through the nose as if you are sniffing your favorite aroma and automatically expanding after that, it is much more convenient and familiar for me to breathe through the nose, what do you think about this?
I understand correctly that the essence of support is to inflate your ribs and inflate like a balloon and not deflate throughout the entire phrase, no matter whether you sing high notes or low ones, without straining your abs

What is the name of your best teacher, that also can sing? Please tell full name. And also what do you think about Michael Trimble. I think he is good and also good teacher.
Soulful
One of the things that plagued me in the past, and still does to a large extent, is being able to separate technical issues from health issues. Working with Dan has given me clarity on what is caused by what. It's really important to get clarify on what's caused by technical issues and what's caused by health issues. When you don't have good technique, you constantly conflate the two, which makes it difficult to understand what's really going on. Health (having a cold etc) is no excuse for not maintaining good technique, and having good technique doesn't mean you can abuse your health.
How much your lessons now Daniel?
if you go to www.yourvocalteacher.com its all there. thank you
@@danielformica-yourvocalteacher I understand but 125 dollars is too much for me for 1 lesson. I wrote in Red Edit that you took 200 dollars 2 years ago.
@@ARTEMIYNIK nope never 2oo for a lesson. i charge $230 for 4 lessons. why don't you do that. or 65 a lesson

If you don't have a lot of experience, you would probably think this was a good version of Recondita Armonia, it is not. It doesn't sound partially loud or big, to start off with. Legato is non-existent. Part of the reason why the legato is inconsistent, is because of the vibrato. That is a wobble - the vibrato is far too slow and inconsistent. For opera standards this is not a particularly great performance. That being said, if it is done as a very quick demonstration, perhaps that is okay. Teachers are not always the best performers, otherwise they would be on stage performing and not teaching. But the best singers and performers also don't necessarily make the best vocal teachers.
This would be a great discussion as it was in a fully carpeted room not a loud room etc. let’s talk about the wobble explain where?
been listening to this . definitely not a wobble. i put it in software program and it lines up perfect with many vibratos pavarotti raimond etc. i think it could be your ear that is immature listening to this type of singing.
Not really a wobble, but definitely not an operatic sound, rather almost like a sound for musical. So I agree to some extent with Zenobia.
@@hendrikmispelon4936 well being present in the room not a large hall but a carpeted room the squall ripped your face off. And in the opera house over the orchestra its insane. i will go and listen to your sounds and compare
there's a man who really cares , Daniel you did wonders for me just made it through 6 days could not have done it without your technique teachings. thanks for your patience and talent, nice bird lol, see you next month
Going through some allergy stuff here in NH also. It seems to affect my bridge the most. There is a certain spot it seems to gunk up. I’m usually a 5 nights a week singer so I have plenty of opportunities to work on getting around it. Ha! I never force or manhandle my way through though.
