    Im about to purchase one of these but in the White, blue and red color scheme. The stock tires are tube tires right? Have you had any problems with them?

  • @anthonyridesphilly
    @anthonyridesphilly11 күн бұрын

    I like the red, white and blue. The stock tires are tube style. I never had any issues. Honestly I caught a few screws over the years that didn’t make it all the way through the tire to the tube and was always happy when I pulled them out and didn’t lose any air. I like tubes personally, they are cheap to replace in the event that they do get popped.

    Vs the T100 is it a more leaned forward position? I’m trying to decide between the two

  • @anthonyridesphilly
    @anthonyridesphilly19 күн бұрын

    It is a more leaned forward position. It’s not as aggressive as the speed twin 1200 but as a boy I find myself sitting on my junk because of the bar position/seat design (it’s not a bench seat like the t100) She doesn’t mind the seat position at all tho😂

  • @anthonyridesphilly

    She is 5 foot and 3 inches tall, so about 3 inches taller than you and her inseam is about 28. You might be on your tippy toes but the suspension is soft so that buys you a bit more leg room when you sit down

    I bought my 2023 ST900 to commute to work - which is across town (large city in the US midwest). Surface streets only take a couple minutes longer than freeway routes (my office is due East of my home, and the two East/West freeways that could get me there are a bit out of the way to get to). The ST900 just eats it up and makes it very enjoyable. Turns a lot of heads too! And super easy on the gas! Always get to work in a good mood - especially since I'm going through old neighborhoods where I lived for over 20 years.

  • @anthonyridesphilly

    Don’t forget they replaced all the fenders with cheap plastic on the X and took off the hand-guards as well. And you still have to replace the seat. So it’s a terrible solution for the shorter rider still. Not a good deal like they want you to believe. I don’t know how low you can modify an XC to but it’s a LOT more bike for the money.

    Can this handle the highway? Say consistent at 70-75 mph over 50-100 miles?

  • @anthonyridesphilly
    @anthonyridesphilly2 ай бұрын

    It can definitely handle the highway. We put a touring windscreen on it and took it 150 mile in a day. But you want to get off the bike and stretch every 75 miles or so. Your rider triangle is more sporty and the knees will get a little cramped after some time.

    I sort of feel like adding an X to my XC just as a road only bike, but it's really not a very good option at all compared to the t120, speed twin, or speed master. It looks like a scrambler, but it isn't. It's a road bike and it's the worst one they make in the 1200.

  • @anthonyridesphilly
    @anthonyridesphilly2 ай бұрын

    I know what you mean, i think if you can handle the sporty seating position that the Speed Twin would be a killer one two punch paired with your Scrambler XC. Having a sport bike as my second option, I really enjoy that. One for long rides and one for short rides

  • @azdesertdog
    @azdesertdog2 ай бұрын

    I like your take on this. I believe Triumph had a gap in the scrsmbler line. The street scrambler was a departure from tbe old 900 scramber. They needed a higher performance road biased street scrambler. I would be more of an XE buyer. I couldn't go riding off into the desert on a $15,000 bike that dents. I am with you on used bikes. In AZ no sales tax on used bikes. Also no icky dealer add-on's or thieving mark ups.

  • @anthonyridesphilly
    @anthonyridesphilly2 ай бұрын

    It is really hard to accept the dealer fees on new bikes these days, in PA I’ve noticed both a destination fee and a setup fee. Usually adding over $1000 to the original msrp. I’m really just over here trying to convince the world not to pay the dealers anymore than they have too😂 I’m going to have to catch up on your videos, haven’t been on KZread much lately. Hope all is well!

  • @logangodofcandy

  • @phils2180
    @phils21802 ай бұрын

    You make some very good points in your comparison. Apparently, the 1200XC didn't sell that well because most buyers went for the higher spec XE. The new X is, in my eye's at least, basically a 1200 version of the 900 Street Scrambler which is why I bought one. I'm 6'3" and around 240lb suited up and I find the X suspension pretty good and certainly much better than the Street Scrambler I had previously. The supposedly "inferior" Nissin brakes are still two finger stoppers so I'm with you on the Brembo comparison.👍 It's the styling that attracted me to the X, the XC and especially the XE never appealed to me that much, they're way too heavy for off road work IMO and I have an enduro bike for that anyway. The 1200 engine is a peach and makes a great road bike.👍 The big increase in manufacturing costs across all industries is probably behind Triumphs re-speccing of bikes across the range and an old spec XE or XC would probably cost substantially more today than they did 18 months ago. In the end it's not the spec on paper that counts but how the bike rides and feels and I don't find the X a let down in any area. Ride safe!👍

If I buy the Speed Twin 900 I will also equip it with a Givi top box, but I will also add the brake light kit. I'm afraid the box hides the brake light and I do not want to be rear ended. I will also add a small windsceen, I'm OLD and a little spoiled.
