It's also the liberal use and understanding of the word pendejo. Such as, "pues que hizo el pendejo? " or "Es lo que merece por pendejo" Sympathy for the consequences of your own actions is low, while judgement and ridicule for said acts is very high.

If I had a trip with a wire walking on the street next to my dad he would have said, "levanta las patas cabrón". When I was a young kid I used to walk with my hands inside my pocket, and my father used to say to me "si te tropezas ni las pinches manos metes".

In the provinces of Mexico people are even more careful because there are no medical facilities nearby. And there you have to deal with dangerous vegetation, reptiles, and insects as well as rough terrain.

Is not that is hard to sue en Mexico 🇲🇽 or is harder to get a compensation if you get hurt, in a very early age your parents show you to be aware about your surrender and take care yourself because NOBODY IS RESPONSIBLE IF YOU FALL. In the USA 🇺🇸 EVERYBODY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU 🤷‍♂️ “EXCEPT YOU” is howSTUP¡D PEOPLE FROM THE USA 🇺🇸 THINK, sorry to talk like that about my country 🙄 “but IS THE TRUTH‼️” 😄

Mexican parents repeat to their kids Watch where you walk, cause they used to walk in the fields and every kind of irregular soil, so, if you fall you´re stupid.

I’ve thought this to also the lack of universal healthcare has lead to a hyper safety culture that lead to a culture that every action has a “liable party” that’s a big reason why Americans are really wimpy because a simple fight between two men can land serious charges because every action needs to have a liable party and it’s a big reason why so many people are quick to pull out firearms because all fighting is seen through the lens of self defense and fearing for one’s life because that sets you up to be less liable should the conflict be taken to court insurance culture and the lack of social safety nets such and universal healthcare have absolutely made the US a weaker nation with people that act more as children then as adults

When I got to the us I noticed some people would cross the street only looking one way and not double checking. Our parents used to tell us to double check before crossing street and look both ways.

You hit the nail on the head. Only, has nothing to do with suing or the law. There’s that tale as old as time called, “why weren’t you watching where you were going?”. Why would we sue for us not watching where we’re stepping. If our kids are running around. Correction, our kids would not be running around. It’s a culture thing. Maybe it’s just not part of English culture? Right there with not bathing much. Mind, I don’t know if the bathing bit is true. It’s a rumor that Europeans didn’t bathe much.

Mexican moms tell you to be careful, when you don’t listen and end up falling down, they’ll tell you “I told you so, be more careful next time” and if you do it more than once, they’ll simply hit you with la chancla 🩴 😂

When I grew up in the 70's, we had a lot of personal responsibility because we looked after ourselves more as kids. No helicopter parents and we'd be on our own outside a lot.

Well, the thing is that here in México there's no real reason to seek compensation if/when you trip and fall since that'll be on you for not paying atention where you walk.

I moved my family to guadalajara because i didn't want to raise gringo kids... my kids know that there are booby traps every where and before going on the street to make sure it was safe.... i saw a young girl of about 13 get hit by a cat in the US after running into the cross walk while a truck stopped and proceeded to make a right turn, I'm sure that the truck was blamed but the girl ran into the crosswalk...😮

Yes but it's not personal responsibility, because if it was, then the person in charge of the holes and the cables would fix them, cause they would have personal responsibility, but they don't. It's just normalized awareness for survival, cause otherwise you might not survive, might not get help or justice.
