    I wear a mask when I sand and when i did the very small amount of hand sanding I was going slow as to not get the dust airborne

    Great vid, out of interest how are you getting along with the sprayer and are you thinking of doing a review on it ?

  • @barrovianmade
    @barrovianmadeКүн бұрын

    I haven’t really thought about doing a review on it but if you don’t want to by an air compressor I think these plug in spray guns are the next best thing and I’d recommend it 1000x over brushing on a varnish the only issue I have with it is that it’s pretty bulky but then again an air compressor would take up more room in the shop so I’m very happy with it

    I saw a video where someone used food coloring to stain the wood. I’m a bit skeptical about that, but the color seemed vibrant- at least on camera it did. Had you ever considered food coloring for stain?

    I’ve never heard of it before to be completely honest I might have to give it a go but I imagine as long as you lock it in with a hard varnish or a flood coat of epoxy it would be find idk if it would fade over time though with it being a good product

    Do you have any bother with varnish gumming up the sprayer? Just wondering how you keep it clean.

  • @barrovianmade
    @barrovianmade2 күн бұрын

    Your ment to clean it after every use but to be completely honest I don’t I just give the tip a wipe after I spray and usually it’s fine every once in awhile I have to take the tip off and poke a nail in the hole if it hardens over it but it’s very easy to clean

    Look into it, but I think you can put some distilled water just like a small amount like less than a shot glass and it will thin your glue. Don't add too much or you'll be really really watery no good. You want it in some sort of ratio of how much glue you have left to how much water.

    Great project I have one question how do you handle your rags you stained with. I'm new to wood cutting and scared of using stain because the rags can catch on fire?

  • @barrovianmade
    @barrovianmade15 күн бұрын

    The “stain” I used in this video is just a clothing dye so they won’t catch fire but when I do use hard wax oils or linseed oil I just leave my rags outside on the concrete and put something on them for a few days then bin them as normal but you can buy actual fire safe bins you can just throw rags in storagenstuff.co.uk/product/justrite-23-litre-steel-oily-waste-can/?mh_matchtype=&mh_keyword=&mh_adgroupid=&mh_network=x&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD8cUERzyCXIiXRmYWDbLU5TfeCBZ&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsPGejbHRhgMVapNQBh0VdQDqEAQYCiABEgLTFfD_BwE (I have no affiliation with this website or have ever bought from it just sending the link as an example of what I’m talking about)

I can see that somehow as we get closer to 1000 subscribers we are getting less and less views. Have you noticed that as well?
