As a old fart with an obsession for computers starting in the early 80s, my journey started with the ZX Spectrum with it's massive 48k of RAM :P
I have owned and used many different computers / consoles over the years and love the way the community has always pushed the hardware way beyond anything the manufacturers intended or ever imagined.
The hardware that always brings a smile to my face is the Atari ST, such a great machine and what an amazing demo community that thankfully is still active even today 35+ years later.
The aim of this channel is for like minded people to be able to enjoy the scene again and of course re-live a few memories.
If any of you reading this were a part of the Atari ST demo scene or for that matter any demo scene, then i'd like to thank you for making it as awesome as it was and for providing me with a load of great memories.

Why C++ is forbidden though? @w@
Toujours un bon choix de musique... ça fait presque tout le job 👍
Very impressive 3D stuff particularly the logo
Decent 3D and an awesome tune, not much more you can ask from a cracktro
Indeed it’s a great music.
The awesome tune called Oh No can be downloaded from the SNDH archive >> sndh.atari.org/sndh/sndh_lf/Antichrist/
That smile at 1:44 gets me every time lmao! It’s so great!
Inspired by TCB 🙂
Nice!
Wow megadrive version is so much better, this version is the ultimate joke 😁
Like;)
Looks like it could have been done on an ordinary ST as well...
Still using chip music in 2012, the STE can sound better than that.
good chip is good chip
Chiptunes make the world a better place
Os caras usaram silhueta de stripers para a demonstração. Genial! 10/10! Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
belle prod... Ressuscitez mes liens SVP... 😢
What links do you need?
.Lol 😅

3:53 Awesome!
crazy!
It looks like they filled all RAM with a pre computed cycle and then let the shifter shift. Though, only STE and Amiga are so smooth.
I was expecting that effect, really nice
The funny thing is that the ST uses proper recorded sound but the Amiga goes straight for the sound chip.....but the Atari goes to it's sound chip and the quality TANKS while the amiga holds strong.
Thx , very nice demo!
I love the music change as the old demo loads up on the ST. If memory serves its from the Cuddly Demos
3:23 No, it's not. You should have just bought an Amiga instead. Decent artworks in this demo, it looks like some kind of HAM mode with only 512 colour palette. I thought the STE had better sound than the ST but I still hear an awful sound assaulting my ear drums and I may need cochlear implants one day if I hear any more
Brave, valiant warrior, you have fought tirelessly for many many years. Alas, it breaks my heart to tell you, your king has been dead for most of those years. Lay down your arms and your petty squabbles. Allow yourself to feel your brotherhood for all those who compute. And most of all, my dear, dear child of so long ago, most of all.... SHUT THE FUCK UP.
I wonder why TCB no longer get shout outs on many credits, is it because they quit the scene long ago or something else?
I had wondered as well. I came to the same conclusion as you, the last demo of theirs was over 20 years ago
Nice intro, thanks for the upload 👍🏻
You're welcome, plenty more demos and menus to come
Honest question - it is 2024, are ST users getting hearings aids and cochlear implants now, after a lifetime of ear drum abuse?
Honest answer: just like the tile cleaner's tendinitis, the mason's back or the glass blower's lungs... no one cares! mais étant donné que tu t'adresses à une Catégorie d'utilisateur en particulier, je dirais que le multiplicateur jm'enbaslescouillest est quand à lui : infini
Pardon? Sorry, could you speak up I'm a little deaf after a lifetime of eardrum abuse
@@JohnSmith_- you are right, I don't care. But I don't understand French either
@@miggy4eva980 yep, je ne Comprends pas l'anglais aussi ... c'est pas très grave, en 2024 il y a des traducteurs. I don't understand English either... it's not a big deal, in 2024 there will be translators.😁
@@zeusgb mdr, la gueguerre amiga atari alors lui il est fort.😂 #clashdevieux
Awesome demo! Is there any possibility to run it under TOS 2.06?
I tried under TOS 2.06 it didnt run, just displays a red screen.
@@zeusgb Exactly. So probably no way to run it. :(
I remember going to the library as a kid in the early 90s and finding a book that had equations for using sine and cosine to translate 2d points in 3d space. It wasn't even a programming book, just basic math formulas. I fired up GFA Basic on my ST and a few hours later had managed to get a spinning wireframe cube on the screen, and later a cross. Didn't know about view frustums yet so there was some crazy distortion if I moved it around too much. Good times, what a great machine.
The title should be: TXT DEMO 🙂
All the musics were composed (and played at the right speed) on C64 / Amiga. Not sure for the "final screen" part.
The music for the final screen plays well. Same speed as I've heard previously
I mean, I guess you could like it if you lived under a rock and didn't know the Amiga existed
Chouette de diffuser toutes ces intros, je n'avais jamais vu les prods des "concurrents" :) Merci encore.
Thanks for the video \o/
Good old Gen4 demos!
7:20 - Protracker's module & multicolor effect.
Amazing stuff, never saw it befor or back in the day, I wish I had it for my ST.
It's a blast from the past for me. I've not seen this demo in years.
THX for link !
Several effects from Gretesque.
THX for link !
The only ATARI makes it possible !
Génération 4 !
Rip Minitel :/
I really like that screen back then.
This is a good screen, and I think a worthy winner
yeah, never heard this one... great tune
A good tune from Wieczor
A good tune from Wieczor
😉
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Retro Game !
Thanks for the sub! More content to come.
Hi luxe demo, super sound, thanks!
That's a really good tune!
Really not that great compared to A500 demo's
oh my demo;) means graphics and design
A fantastic demo.
Super fun, thanks!!!
I developed a retro demo in GameMaker Studio this year. It was a lot of fun. When I see that, I think about developing a “Cracktro” in Unity. I really love this old art style.
I wonder how faster this could run if the ST/STE had a chuncky pixel mode.
1:38 - LINUX on the pure ATARI ST ! Linux without memory management PMMU from 68030 !
I wonder if anyone has gotten Linux to run on an ST
@@zeusgb Unix yes and I believe there was an mkLinux version for 68030 and higher that worked on TT. The TT was meant to be a Unix workstation after all. ST a little different but it would be possible (see AmigaOS as sort of there.) Given how simple the hardware was on the ST it’s possible it would have worked just fine if ported and designed for 16bit. Always wanted Unix on my ST.
@@zeusgb I have used on my Falcon030 - veeery slooow... 😞
Great demo for sure. It’s actually showcasing something the ST does better than the Amiga with 3D. Different hardware approaches for different machines of course.
Yes very different hardware
@@zeusgb I love the platform and always find amazing things that can be done with it. The Amiga is a one-trick (a good trick though) machine, but simple CPU-driven ST would make it more flexible if not more challenge to code tricks. Made my own demos and such back and the day and found it fun to tweak the hardware.
