    Once you get the thrust set on your pinion its a good idea to drive it and check it a few times. Usually the endplay gets looser so you have to pop the drive shaft off and snug the pinion nut . Not a bad idea to put a dial indicator on it and throw out that break in oil when you do this.

    Biggest challenge was the exhaust, otherwise not too bad if you can fab up motor mounts and don't mind a little wiring

    I did this conversion on my 68 Camaro rear end that I put under a 1946 GMC. I bought two 1/4 Inch axle shims, put between backing plate and axle housing. To get correct the correct spacing for caliper bracket. Then bought two left side emergency brake cables for a blazer. I used a 4 wheel disc master cylinder and porp valve. Worked out pretty good.

    You already did the work, but I would have suggested getting the seat frames from that '91 Ciera, remove the G6 seats from their frames, and figure out how to mount the G6 seats to the Ciera frames. You may have been able to avoid cutting the floor.

  • @tuningwithstyx
    @tuningwithstyx2 ай бұрын

    Thanks yeah definitely something I wished were possible but from what I saw at the time the g6 seats were just too wide everywhere to make it work in comparison

    This is awesome dude. I've always dreamed of throwing a 5 speed manual into one of my A body cars.

  • @leftventricle3
    @leftventricle34 ай бұрын

    I was the first to do an LX9 swap (Malibu 3.5) in an A-body on my '96 Century, and used '97 Lumina throttle and cruise cables. I did not have to modify my pedal at all to make it work. I only had to massage the hole in the firewall a little bit to accept the grommet. I'm currently running an LA1 56 mm throttle body, but I will be upgrading to an LX5 65 mm soon, and using an Aurora 3.5 cruise module and cable for that. As an A-body enthusiast, I am very excited to see the finished product. L67 swaps have been done, but I believe this will be the first manual transmission L67 in an A-body.

  • @tuningwithstyx
    @tuningwithstyx4 ай бұрын

    That sounds like a really cool build, pretty unique for sure! Good to know about the pedals too, I'll have to do some more part shopping next time I'm in the junkyard since they still have a 96 cutlass there right now.

    Great description in the 1st half, and showing what's generally happening with a few different options. I've bought parts for some elaborate evac options, but not installed, yet. Haven't dealt with any fumes over the years (maybe concern for worn ring cars), but the condensation is certainly an issue with shorter drives and lower t-stats. As long as you toss a catch can in-line to eliminate the gunk being drawn back in, especially ahead of the turbo, it is nice to have a draw working right.

    Honestly I bought like 3 sets of axles and just didn't want to dig to find out which ones haha They're for a 88 6000 with the 2.8. GSP part numbers are: - NCV10026 -NCV10075 If I'm honest the driver side looks a little short but I think at ride height it will be okay

  • @tuningwithstyx

    I would look at the Spec clutch offerings. I've had this clutch and flywheel on the shelf for a few years and don't have any info on it unfortunately. I found that with the flywheel milled to 0.840" and this clutch I just needed a spacer on the trans to make it work

I was lucky the trans went out before i hit the road though. I was stayed at the hotel with the band it was a blast that night!

    I think 87 - 88 Chevy Celebrity and Pontiac 6000's had hydraulic clutches so there is an OEM pedal somewhere for this if you could even find one of those cars anymore. Last time I even saw a Pontiac 6000 was like 15 years ago and I think it was an auto.
