Thermal limit fuse, roll out fuse roll out sensor gave no continuity but both ECO + TSTAT gave me a reading. Wife stopped at CW on way to trailer, they had in stock and within hours we are back hot. Thank you for the video! 🙏🏻

Make sure you buy it direct from RV Lock. I bought what I thought was RV Lock from Amazon and it was a knock off.

So you’re saying that by cooling the water by using the cold water tap makes the water heater work harder! Are you serious, the water temperature coming out of your heater is regulated by the temperature sensor. Adding cold water to the flow downstream from the heater will have no effect on the water heater. The water heater will only work as hard as what it takes to meet the setting you chose.

We've had them for 4 years. We're on #3 (all warrantied). The last failure woke us up in the middle of the night with the unlocking tone. Over and over and over. Couldn't make it stop until we removed the batteries. We still use it, but only without batteries. We no longer recommend them, personally.

My only problem with this type of lock is that the deadbolt isn't activated by the fob. But it makes sense due to strikers not always lining up. It would burn up the motor trying to move into the locked position.

The only problem that I have is the metal gets really hot in the desert and I have to slam and hold in on it to get the lock to fully lock.

I agree that black wasn’t the best color choice because of heat. Latching issues are usually resolved by an adjustment at the latch

Great video. Getting ready to test mine as it stopped working last trip. I noticed when I bought a new thermal fuse it came with a new red wire if needed to replace the wire between board and fuse. How hard is that to replace? Any tips or just pull it from the white plug that slides into the board?

Great Explanation of a valve changeout. As an RV owner I would appreciate turning the valve over. If we needed to do a changeout of the cable only, the openings to get to the slide and adjustments are easier to get too. As I understand it makes no difference which way its installed.

What’s your opinion on changing a single 12 v battery to two 6 v batteries or doubling up two 12 v batteries? It seems my single 12 v battery runs down in a 3 day trip. I do have a single solar panel on my roof.

Unsure if you will respond but....Im going to be installing a New Fogatti instashower 6 tankless waterheater to replace my old Atwood 6 gal. trailer is a 2018 jayco jayflight slx 174bh. Anywho, the old tank was a manual gas and had no wires to it and the new tankless needs 12V. do i just find any 12V to connect it too? i do have the thermostat near and also the fuse panel is under the bench next to the bunk where the water heater will be. any help would be appreciated.

  • @Thatrvtech
    @Thatrvtech20 күн бұрын

Yes you will need a simple 12v source. You can likely find an unused circuit at the fuse panel or you can tap off of something else if it has the rated capacity. A lighting circuit will usually have plenty of left over amperage as they are usually a 15a circuit and the lights don’t typically draw anywhere near that

This video saved my butt. After getting caught in the rain all my family wanted was a hot shower but of course the hot water heater was not working. I used this video to find the issue, a bad thermo limit fuse, and get the hot water flowing. Luckily I had a fuse on hand but I would have been scratching my head the whole time. This was the first time I had to do a repair on our coach and am glad for this resource.

Thank you! Excellent info. Mine is having intermittent issues where the heater works on gas but only if the exterior cover is open. When I have it open to troubleshoot, it works fine. When I close the lid, it shuts off after 10 seconds. If I switch the heater on with the cover closed, the unit will spark, light, and burn for 5-10 seconds and then turn off. I am assuming it is one of the safety features beginning to go bad so I will try new thermostats and see. Additionally this water heater makes scalding hot water. So hot the pressure relief valve leaks water when at temp. Dometic says there is nothing they can do about that. Do I have any options to get the temp to be less hot?

Ok very good lesson but I can move on to some of the tests you are doing due to the fact the as soon as I flip the switch inside for the LP gas side it pops the 2 amp fuse. I have tested the ECO TSTAT and thermal limit switch for Continuity and there all good. Electric side is working fine but hit the LP switch and it pops the fuse ideas?

  • @user-ln1uy2ti2v

Great tutorial. I have an issue with the electric and the gas which I believe is tied to the thermostat and or ECO. The flame will come on and run for about 3 minutes then shut off. When I go electric, I get power to the heating element then I hear a click and result, power is shutoff. As a result, I get lukewarm water at the spigot. Your thoughts?

If the thermal fuse has gone bad does that stop the electric side from functioning also? Another YT video claims this is the case and my WH is not functioning on either source without continuity through the fuse. Great video, thanks for the education!

The heating of the water causes dissolved minerals to disassociate and form sediment. That freshly demineralized water is positively charged and seeks electrons to balance the atomic charges, unfortunately the aluminum tank of the water heater acts as a sacrificial anode so the metal itself dissolves as it looses electrons to the water. The only solution is to add a more reactive metal as the sacrificial anode so we add zinc rods. The zinc rods dissolve into the water taking the place of the minerals. So the sludge is not the anode rod because the anode is now part of the water, the sludge is the minerals that separated from the water when it was hot. Understand? The rod does not end up as sludge, it dissolves just like the fizz in soda. The sludge created the need for the rod. The sludge is not the rod.
