What a fun concept, I loved the tension of seeing who'd end up in the top 3!! Heck yes for Wistful, that is such a gem! And I definitely need to check out Jurassic Park, it's honestly a crime that I haven't read that book yet lol. Hope you find many more amazing reads in the 2nd half of the year. Also, mad respect on juggling all of those current reads hahaha, we live for chaosss!! 🤣🤩

I'm gonna read Jurassic park in August. Very excited to see the difference between the film and the book. So far only read 5 books this year, so have a lot of catching up to do. Ha ha. Currently reading Molls like it Hot by Darren Dash(a crime noir self pub by my fav author) and Firestarter by Stephen King.😁

The books are mixed bags for me. All the dino horror and action scenes are really good in both books, but it's the padding in between that loses me. Characters (usually Malcolm) randomly going off on long-winded tangents that only vaguely relate to the situation at hand. It gets worse in the second book with Lavigne. God, Lavigne is insufferable in The Lost World. But then you add a guy like Thorne who's just kinda blunt and brings everyone back down to reality. I like Thorne. The first book doesn't really have anybody to keep Malcolm in check when he starts running his mouth, so you end up just wanting it to get to Grant and the kids or Muldoon and Genarro hunting the rex. Finding out that Malcolm in the books is just a self-insert of Crichton himself doesn't help, because now it feels like he's just huffing his own farts. There's things I really like and dislike about the books, I can't say I prefer them over the movies, but then I also can't say I prefer movies either. I like the movies and books equally, flaws and all. I just don't think the books are the "holy grail" everyone makes them out to be.

My Top 3 so far this year: 1) «A Brightness Long Ago» by Guy Gavriel Kay (Fantasy inspired by the Mercenary Wars of Renaissance Italy) 2)«Imperium» by Robert Harris (Historical Fiction, book #1 in Cicero Trilogy about the Eponymous Roman Statesman) 3)«Når landet mørknar» (Approximately «When The Land Darkens») by Tore Kvæven (Historical Fiction set during the 13th Century end of the Norse Settlement of Greenland, think of it as a Norse John Steinbeck novel, winner of the Brage Prize for Best Norwegian Novel in 2018) My August TBR: «The Green Angel Tower part 1 & 2» (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #3) by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy) «Leviathan Falls» (The Expanse, #9) by James S.A. Corey (Space opera) «The Thousandfold Thought» (The Prince of Nothing #3) by R. Scott Bakker (Grimdark/Dark Epic Fantasy) Fun fact: I am a direct descendant of William Sinclair (My great-x16-grandfather) who built Rosslyn Chapel! 😃Let’s just say I do not agree with Mr. Brown’s suggestion of a “divine ancestry” of me too! 😅😄

When I was 8 or 9 I wrote three books. They were called the lost keys. I wrote them out, bound them with some string and added a paper cover. They were heavily influenced by Harry Potter and had this dungeon crawler thing going on. I never finished the third book, left it on a nice cliffhanger that will never be resolved.

Not even close in my opinion. The Blade Itself is good but A Game of Thrones is an all times classic. The same goes for the series overall in my book. The most astonishing series debut is The Darkness That Comes Before in my opinion with Game of Thrones a close second
