I'd like to see the raw data to support his conclusion that improving health lowers birth rates... Sounds like total bullshit. People are having less children for many reasons and that data cannot be isolated to prove his conclusion AT ALL.
check out the our world in data website. all this is explained. as you suggest people are having less children for many reasons but those reasons are tied together. as health, wealth, access to education, healthcare and contraception improve, family size comes down.
