Why don’t you guys do a video about the Golden Temple in Amritsar ? I am an old guy from Scotland but I was there twenty two years ago and I have never forgotten it. I know it is not a regular tourist attraction but of all the places I have been this was definitely the most memorable. There is something very special about the atmosphere there. If I had a bucket list…which I don’t…there would only be two items on it and those would be to go back to the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh. A cultural feast. Please consider it. 👍

Beefeaters are specifically around the Tower of London. The rest are the Kings Guard. When soldiers return from deployment they are usually sent on guard duty to reacclimatise them.. It’s been an efficient system. Nobody wants to unleash broken soldiers directly onto the civilian population so they go through a process that for some regiments includes guarding the palaces.. Nobody would think it a good idea to put the SAS, SBS or RMC on guard duty, that would be a bloodbath.. Some of those soldiers could have flown back from front line fighting and gone straight from the plane to guard duty. Yesterday people were shooting at them and their friends were dying and today they have to deal with idiot tourists who have no respect.. The only guards that don’t wear bearskins are Sikh soldiers who wear military turbans.

The commentator got it wrong in the beginning. Those with the big tall fake bear skin hats. Are called the Queen guards. Now the kings guards. Those who ride the horses with the swords are the kings cavalry. In the last clip. gentleman with the flat hat, talking to the Jewish couple is called a beefeater. Yeomen of the guard or the Yemen Warders. Just thought you might to know. 🙂👍

Fun fact the King's Guard are called the King's Guard and not "Beefeaters" which are completely different.

These guards are not Beefeaters....they are currently serving soldiers who have fought in almost all major conflicts including Afghanistan. The ceremonial duties are just a small part of their role.

Beefeaters are former experienced soldiers who served for 22 years and must have reached the rank of Warrant Officer, who now act as tour guides in the Tower of London

0:43 The one where Ranji's been sneaking them home comforts actually takes place after this sequence; that was episode 5 while this is episode 4. 1:38 "With a shiny scrubbed face, and smelling of carbolic soap." 4:43 The dynamic amounts to the bombardier (corporal) and gunners (rank & file) are conscripts who want to avoid the fighting aspect of the military as much as possible, while the sergeant major (warrant officer) is a career soldier desperate to get back into the fight, but the captain and colonel are mildly military souls who want to coast through the war. The net result is that the British Other Ranks and the commissioned officers are almost on the same page, using every possible angle to avoid going to the front.

Most were on everyday tv, though some may be after watershed aka 9pm and aimed just for adults. There are so many really good psa and charity adverts that i remember so clearly from being a child til now. Some of the drive safe ones especially. The concept is awareness and awareness to incite action so even as a child we know things are important even if we are too young to do anything ourselves. My niece when she was five had her first pocket money and gave it to a charity voluntarily without prompting. We know so we do or we dont do. Adults and kids

The main reason you don't see horses (except for 1 short scene) is simply because they couldn't afford it. After figuring that out they must have come up with the jokes about the coconuts and having no live horses on set. The scene at the beginning where Arthur is asked "Where'd you get the coconuts?" is another funny one.
