I love the line there pirates and he's a retired pirate
I really like the Railway children and all the Ransome books
There's no leading man that can touch Roger for looks and charm on our uk tv screens now.
Great to see this Sunday classic tv reunion from 2023, Prunella looks good and Ian also well, he was in Out with the old, In with the new for STV Dec 1978.
Ian Ogilvy is a legend for doing this. He was my first Simon Templar.
This is wonderful. Great hearing from two excellent actors from a golden era. And the down to earth quality of both is terrific. They’ve both got their feet firmly on the ground and are very amusing.
Of particular interest was Haren Ellenshaw, he seemed absolutely crestfallen by how the film was lobotomised. I made a very modest documentary on Superman IV, as it’s a very intricate passion of mine. The gem of film curios. It’s great to see how much you’ve put into this.
Thank you for your very kind words. Greatly appreciated. You will also find on my channel a couple of commentaries for Superman IV, one with Harrison Ellenshaw, and another with Martin Asbury - with an extended cameo from Harrison.
What an absolutely wonderful compilation of interviews. Masterfully presented sir. You should be very proud of your work here.
This was great to see. I worked with Peter on Azkaban. One of the old school. Learned a lot watching him at work.
very diverting
Howard Goorney played surintendant Lewis. He played in "the evil of Frankenstein" in 1964 with Peter Cushing.
Perhaps you can do an interview with gary raymond?
I did of course ask Delena if her husband Gary Raymond would like to do an event, but its not his sort of thing sadly.
Shame, has is a great actor, his voice very mellifluous.
restart @ 60:00
It's the first interview I've seen Prunella do, great.
Thanks for taking the time and trouble, Philip. Well done.
This was absolutely fantastic. Thank you.
Ian is still very charismatic, you can see his actors star qualities shining through.
Excellent!
Very interesting, thanks for sharing.
Where does the climate/weather controls ideas came from ? Back then I found them ludicrous, nowadays not so much with cloud seeding news and other stuff...
Good chat always wanted to know more about the movie
Fantastic chat! Really enjoyed this as well as your interview with Jeffrey Caine
My favourite Mr Roark
I was so excited to see film back in day before came out, I tried watching trailer on dial up internet waiting for it to load.
I like the original Avengers series and the New Avengers, I also like film, although not quite right, film still enjoyable and entertaining to watch. Music of film were good, also didn’t Brian Clemens try and put his input forward but was ignored a rumour I heard don’t know if it is true.
Yes, I have heard Brian Clemens saying that his input was not of interest to Warner Brothers.
Tim Burton, Directing Arnold as Frankenstein’s monster!? can’t decide if I want to see this or not! lol
I wish we could see the directors cut of this film. It has moments of brilliance!
My 15 yr old daughter has just started watching Randall & Hopkirk on Great! TV and she loves everything about Jeannie! I must show her this interview as she is a massive fan of yours Annette. :)
This is a great interview. Thanks for posting. Good questions.
I miss Tara Kong 😢 the Avenger so beautifull lady. I miss Avengers.😢
Best version
This is a great channel. I loved recently watching Annette's acting in The Brothers (now being shown on Talking Pictures). There was potential there for a spin-off series on business espionage.
Always I remember you ...the Avenger Is in my heart
Great chat - how have I never seen If? It's on my list of to watch soon!
The movie was fun; I remember looking forward to it eagerly! My TV was fixed on CBS that evening. And the critics commented on how good Robert Vaughn and David McCallum looked. My regret was that it seemed hastily put together (the credits and music, for example). More time and budget should have been allotted. This would have allowed for more imaginative camera work and editing. But Michael Sloan wrote an entertaining script, combining UNCLE with elements of Bond. Kudos to him for his perseverance! My impression at that time was, they were considering more TV movies; it would have been more exciting than a weekly series. But CBS was not happy with the ratings. (Pity, because “Perry Mason” went on for over 20 movies, with Raymond Burr and Barbara Hale.) Imagine my added pleasure as a George Lazenby fan, seeing “JB” kick ass in Las Vegas! Fun fact: 1983 was the year of Lazenby, Connery, and Moore all playing James Bond! Thanks, Michael!
i saw her in person. most down to earth celebrity i ever met.
Absolutely love this - many thanks to Ian and Kevin and to Philip for making this happen!
Thank you for this. I was a DWAS member in the 70's and 80's, and at the time, Ian was an ordinary fan like many of us, in that he knew what he liked and enjoyed about any given story or episode! I was very sorry to hear that he had passed away some time ago, he would have loved to see William Hartnell's Season 2 make it to Blu-Ray! Glad he enjoyed the Evil of the Daleks animation, both in colour and in B&W. Lovely to see and hear him in this interview. Thank you again ;D
One of the actors is Gary Raymond of the rat patrol TV series
Gary was also a guest on UFO.
I hope Linda will do more episodes!!!! The last original Avenger!!! Love her so much!
I don't get this whole BBC used to so old white men when you had a female producer and a gay Asian director on the first Doctor Who
I've just watched Annette in the new avengers. She's a pleasure in everything she did.
Great selection! Despite the video and audio quality not being up to standards that the majority of modern viewers expect, I greatly prefer the Honor Blackman episodes of "The Avengers" over any other era. I bought the Dave Rogers book when it came out new in 1982, poured over all the synopses which was helpful in comprehending some of the action when I finally did get the opportunity to watch episodes here in the States circa 1990 when broadcast for the first time here. Of course, lots of "ITC / ATV repretory players" (like the lovely Annette Andre who I had an awful crush on from her Saint appearances), and this great ensemble of actors made the transition from other shows I had seen to The Avengers a loigical choice. Although there is a bit of the bizarre in some of the plots, they are more plausible that the absurdity that creeped in especially in the color episodes. Interestingly enough, "The New Avengers" seemed to return to some of this original more serious / thrilling format, and I enjoyed that series greatly as well. Two unfortunate things about the show are the wiped episodes, along with the passage of time before anyone like Philip took a serious enough interest in these marvellous shows and began interviewing participants. There are so many other actors like Annette Andre who appeared in these shows, but we never got to learn some of the interesting stories that occurred behind the scenes. Thanks, Philip! It's always a pleasure to see someone who is an avid fan to the point that they seek out the behind-the-scenes stories and present them. Well done!
Wonderful!
What a legend!!!
Lorimar was eventually bought by Warner, who happened to produce the KUNG-FU series that was originally developed by Bruce Lee himself. Maybe that merger stopped his TV show. MIRRORS is one of the strongest Tara episodes of all. Of course, the black and white Rigg episodes did get to U.S prime time TV, but ABC in the U.S. wanted and got color for the next season. A few years later, JAOSN KING, THE ADVENTURER and THE PROTECTORS were totally produced on 16mm film and looked good despite the drop in quality versus 35mm. The Thorson GAME episode had a great final fight scene, well done by Joe Dunne.
Ian Ogilvy was on the THEY KEEP KILLING STEED episode of the LINDA THORSON/TARA KING AVENGERS, but Joe Dunne had replaced Ray Austin by then, then Thorson returned the favor by appearing on THE ROMAN TOUCH episode of RETURN OF THE SAINT.
Thank you Phillip for such an insightful and interesting commentary. I really loved it! Am still watching Randall and Hopkirk on Great TV. Legendary series with special people.
