    It’s not linear. Good’ish days…but also a lot of bad (dark depressive regretful) days. Lymphatic massive and touching the wound and using gravity to asset flexion has been helpful. 53 year old male and haven’t feel this vulnerable and pathetic before. Regret the surgery but hoping for improvement in mood and result. Wow! What have I done😢

    My foot is so stiff. I just started Physical Therapy. They have never seen someone with the amount of surgeries I had, and they don't even know how long it will take for my ankles to gain mobility back to get my foot to a neutral position.

    Not trying to be political but it appears countries that still advocate for both knees are the same time have universal healthcare and if you look at their post-surgery recovery schedule they are in the hospital for a while as they heal whereas there is absolutely no way private insurance let alone medicare would even consider doing that for patients, so as Americans it's about getting you home ASAP

    OMG!! I said this the first time in the hospital a week and a half ago when walking for the first time and still kinda feels that way. My exact words to the nurses and PT is my right leg the doctor I think added two more inches to my leg...hahaha They looked at me like I was crazy for a whole 4 days I had to spend.....lol

    Well i totally disagree. I'm 6 weeks out and much better but still have some pain, especially my thigh on the operated leg. Getting better but still use a cane for balance, My PT said everyone is different. My PA said i may need up to 12 weeks out to be recovered

    Everyone has a different recovery time. I recently had my second hip replacement. This time I knew that walking and doing the recommended exercises are essential for a fast recovery. I started walking 3-4 miles every day three days after surgery. Was using walking sticks for 6 days. Started going to the driving range 4 weeks post surgery. Will be playing 18 holes 6 weeks post surgery. Highly recommend Dr. Crovetti.

    I am at three weeks, got stiffness but have slept through each night since day three. Taking naproxen twice a day mostly for swelling, not pain, and that is all. Walking almost normally, using a recumbent stationary bike with varying programs. Only have real pain (front kneecap) when standing up from sitting. It passes after a few steps. Driving my lifted truck and my Smart car. Couple of weeks, back on my bicycle. I am 67. No physical therapist (following my surgeon’s advice to do my own thing.)

    I had a THR, three days in I have been so nervous. My operative leg feels at least an inch longer. Before surgery it was shorter, I was told, although I never noticed. My surgeon said he would fix it, so I’m afraid it’s now too long. I’ll listen to you and give it time and be patient. I had lateral surgery. Other than that I’m doing well. Thank you!

    How long before you can get back into mountain biking, motocross, running and some weight lifting? I'm guessing the bone needs to grow to the implants, but is that a few months, or more like a year? For a healthy male ~50 yrs old.

    I had posterior hip replacement 19th Jan 2024. Was awake through surgery and back home the day after.. Back at work office based after 6 weeks. . DO YOUR EXCERCISES and drop your weight is key in recovery. Now April and walking without pain and limp.. I had to force myself to NOT limp , its hard to retrain your brain to not limp after years of limping . I feel like a new man .. Oh and I had my other hip replaced in 2022 and that's been brilliant..

    Unrealistic. I am week 5 of total hip, left, anterior approach. I can walk slow with a quad cane using the right arm. I have pain, but progress is constant and pain is steadily lessened. I have helped to change the battery in my wife’s Fusion, cleaned the garage, arc welded a chair, finished some hardware for summarizing the snow blower, done 6 taxes and made over $50k trading in the market. And I function on my own. BUT… I am not cured. I could not go back to work at this point. No sir. I am very active, exercise and go to therapy, but pain limits what I can do. I am also a post open heart patient and also has knee work done. So, no blanket statements will be accepted here. Everyone is different. Right now, the pain in my right side from using the cane has slowed me down.

    Spoken by someone who obviously has never had hip replacement surgery. I was walking well with a walker that afternoon after a right hip replacement that morning. The next day the drugs that they pumped me so full of during the surgery wore off, and it's agony from there on.

    7 weeks out. Good flexion and extension, but still lots of pain. So much so at night I have to take 2 Tramadol just to get easy enough to go to sleep and I don’t get much sleep. Up every couple of hours. Constipation is problematic, nothing really gives much relief. I’ve tried almost everything. Praying all this will end soon. The pain has gotten me down since it’s constant. I’m supposed to have other knee done, as I have a lot of pain with it, but I don’t want to go through this again. The worst in my 75 years of life.

    Everybody is different in their recovery depending on age and agility. It also depends in how active you have been in your life. Exercise is good, develops strength and stamina, along with balance. I am now at 3months and working a lot on balance to finally not have assistance with my cane, I use for securing my gait. I do pretty well without, but not til I'm absolutely sure. I'm 70, I did return to work when my doctor was sure. It depends on your job activity when you can return. I couldn't drive until 6 weeks. So listen to your body and your doctor. Don't overdue but don't not move either. This was my right hip and I think I'm doing really well, improving daily. Be consistent. Listen to your doctor and tell him your concerns as well.

    Hi, Dr Crovetti did my THR 8 years ago Posterior I was walking with a walker day 1, 5 days later I was.back at church. by 3 rd week I was using a cane. I was back to work at 5 1/2 weeks. I admit The first week was painful. But I kept doing my PT excecises. At first I could barely do them, it was a real.struggle. But then It got easier. One thing that helped me was doing PT in a pool. I agree we all heal at a different rate. A good PT that encourages you helps. So did the prayers and support of family and friends. Praying you all have a complete recovery.

    At least 6 weeks of stretching and very light leg exercises, regain full mobility and no pain before going back to physical sports, build your glutes up as best as you can to take strain off the meniscus

  • @johnmurphy6556
    @johnmurphy65565 ай бұрын

    This guy's advice sounds reckless and the reality is it takes at least a year to get back to normal despite what you are told at the hospital and this is coming from people who have had the surgery. Listen to your body and don't push yourself too hard to to fast as this creates swelling and will prolong the recovery of your meniscus.

    Makes sense to wait till the operated knee is well healed and strong enough to support the other knee, there is no way I would have been ready to do that at 4 weeks 😂 and I’ve had a great recovery. As for getting 2 done at the same time, which seems to be a thing elsewhere, it is definitely frowned upon in the UK as the official stats advise the complication rate is higher and recovery is longer.
