Can I use this without the collar? Seems a better fit without it.

I never knew Fred Bear to hunt with a 45 lb bow, everything I ever heard and saw was he shot a 65 lb bow. I think Jim was mistaken here.

LOL...It is realistic because animals are the same because if Fred Bear could kill every large animal in north america with a 45# bow back then then you can today. Even with a recurve with an arrow speed of maybe 190 fps and you still can today. Maybe you can't because you're not Fred Bear, Sorry but that was a ridiculous statement.

I think momentum is going to be a better predictor for killing/penetration..... Do you want to get hit by a ping pong ball at 100mph or a steel ball bearing at 45mph.......speed and kinetic energy predict your pin gaps but not penetration

Estimating Speed Rules of Thumb: IBO Speed is 70# @ 30" with a 350gr arrow - 20 fps per 10# under 70# - 12 fps per 1" under 30" - 1.5 fps per 5gr over the 350gr IBO weight arrow - 6 fps for d-loop and peep - 6 fps for anything else on the string (dampeners, etc) - 3 fps for the release. IBO doesn't use a release and there are losses KE = (mv^2)/450,800 KE drops 1.5 ft-lbs per 10 yards (roughly)

light arrow for little quicker flying, mass for true penetration.

well if you think that's true they why don't hunter kill bull elephants or cape buffalo with .223. It's much faster by a long shot than a H&H .700 nitro express.

Great video. I think it's carbon express that has muddied the waters about what FOC means in terms of arrow flight and accuracy. The other thing about FOC and why I like really high FOC (like >16%) is better penetration. A lot of the big game trad hunters rely on EFOC for penetration (combined with many other factors of course).
