    The valve must be on or off before u put the digital valve on the heater??

  • @NewHomeTricks

    Either - you can change the head regardless of what state your heating is in at the time - just be careful not to scald yourself on any hot pipes if you're fitting the head whilst the heating is running!

    Thanks for the concise information. I have just installed a Tado V3 system. To be honest, if you have paid the cost of the smart thermostats then the subscription should not worry you too much. Bought the initial start-up pack to try it out it was in a sale at the time. I was impressed so much that I bought another 3 pack to finish the install, it had gone up by £50 because the sale had finished. What impresses me is being able to adjust the heating from anywhere If you decide to get up early for instance you can go on the app and just switch on the bathroom from your bed or wherever. If you think of buying it wait for the sales.

    I’m failing to “snap” mine back on after it got loose 😞 What could I be doing wrong?

  • @NewHomeTricks
    @NewHomeTricks Жыл бұрын

    If you're referring to snapping the main body onto the 'base' - sometimes this is a bit tricky yes! Best I can advise is try to keep as firm a hold as possible on the base (from underneath) as you can, whilst rotating the upper part into place.

    Fine if everything works - but if it doesn't the potential problems aren't even listed, nevermind solutions identified. A them with Tado literature.

    I am going to have to change my thermostats and having looked around. I really like the Tado system at the moment. Checking the UK site there is plenty of info regarding the subscription fee and what you get out of it. Personally I dont really need to be told there is a window open, auto assist. For goodness sake we either turn the heating down or off when we go out, why all of a sudden do I need help with that. Likewise regarding outside temperatures. If I feel cold I turn it up or down if I am too warm. I really dont see the point in that app to be honest. Must be the English in me. Everything else that is free, no subscription I really like and want. All I have to do is work out how many radiator thermostats I require and who to purchase it off. Brilliant update, love the advice. Wish there was a little more on the timer as no one seems to mention that. Regards Chris

    Hi, you explained that really good. But dose this works without the extansion kit also? I have a wired thermostat in my living room and 3 radiators in the same room. The thermostat controls a pump that is bringing hot water into my radiators. My question is if i instal a smart themostat and smart trv in every room (also in the living room where the thermostat is) will the smart trv call for heat when needed in other rooms even when the living room (where the termostat is) dont need heat? Meaning the termostat will turn on my pump but the living room will not heat beacuse the smart trv will close? Dose this works without the extansio, only with he smart hub a smart thermostat and smart trvs?

  • @rallicat7362
    @rallicat7362 Жыл бұрын

    My understanding is that yes this should work. If you replace your wired thermostat with a Tado one, but no extension kit, then it will become the 'master controller' for your boiler, and will relay calls for heat from /other/ rooms, even if the one that the thermostat is located in is /not/ currently calling for heat. In such a scenario you are correct in your assessment: Only those TRVs in rooms calling-for-heat will be opened up. This will ensure that the heat is directed only where it is needed, and in turn, help to keep the load being placed on your boiler low. Saves energy and money :)

    @@rallicat7362 i contacted tado support. They told me the same like you. It can work like that i just need to set the system to work like this, that the TRVs can call for heat and not only open and close(in my case turn on the pump)I have a wooden pellet heating system that is always on and heat the water for my radiators. So i just need to control the pump so the water can circulate. Thank you for you answare!

    Great video 👍 in short i can just make 1 radiator smart? In long, if i just buy 1 radiator thermostat and install it in my bedroom (still will only the old heating thermostat in the house) then my radiator can be smart controlled once our heating is on? And the thermostat keeps the room at your selected temperature automatically?

    Thanks for this very helpful guide ! Just one question : do we need to cut off the water before installing the valve ?

  • @rallicat7362
    @rallicat73622 жыл бұрын

    No. If your radiator already has a Thermostatic Radiator Valve (TRV), then you'll simply be changing the head, as shown in the video, and you won't need to drain your heating system down! :) You can even make this change whilst your heating system is running - just watch out for hot pipes! If your radiator does not currently have a TRV unit, then you'll be requiring a full valve replacement, which would indeed require the heating system be drained down. If you're not comfortable doing this, then call for a specialist to carry out the work. Well worth the upgrade though, as it can help save you money on your heating bills :)

    Frankly I don’t believe Tado, I’ve an Arlo camera system that allowed me to swap in and out Cameras as I’ve six cameras and can only monitor five for free! But an update stopped this unless I subscribe! leaving me with one expensive useless camera. That’s the Americans for you they didn’t advise and once updated I couldn’t go back.
