Pescatarian Fishing | Captain Pedro Rodriguez
Hello and welcome to Pescatarian Fishing. My name is Captain Pedro Rodriguez and I am a licensed USCG captain. I operate a charter fishing and commercial fishing boat and create content to inspire our viewers to get out on the water with their friends and family, educate them on how to catch fish, use their electronics and have a safe boating experience and lastly entertain our viewers through our own personal fishing videos.
We believe that everyone deserves creating long lasting memories on the water. Whether you want to book a charter with us or gain confidence and inspiration from our how to and educational videos, my passion is to create more fishermen and fisher women and get more families on the water to create their own memories!
Thank you for stopping by, viewing and subscribing. Your support helps us make our dream a reality!

Again great video! What is the label maker you use? Is the tape waterproof? Thank you.
Thank you Cap!
You are very welcome! Thanks for the support!
Great video ! I love the no holds barred honesty which shows on your face and through your words and actions ! Your videos are interesting and fascinating to watch ; especially from a guy from PA….keep ‘em coming !
Thank you very much! This year for the stone crab season, I am going to try and record more to show the viewers about stone crabbing in Florida. We are almost exclusive with stone crab here in Florida but it’s tough to record because we have very rough seas in the winter here. Lots of saltwater on the cameras and microphones. Thanks for the support!
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT video Many thanks. Watched it 3 times. TY
Awesome! Thank you for the support and hopefully this video helps you dial in your sonar
Excellent and quick explanation. Congratulations
Thank you very much!
Great video Captain Pedro. Keep up the great works. Have great day
Thank you for the support!
Super helpful! Love the bookmarked sections. Makes it very easy to parse through what you're looking for.
Im very glad you found it helpful. That was my goal when I decided to make this video. I wanted to help people understand the settings so they could adjust their settings and catch more fish!
Another good video. Thanks. It’s so much easier to grasp all of these rules in video form as opposed to just reading them.
Thank you very much. That was my intent with this series, to make it easier to u set stand to increase boating safety awareness and to better assist people studying for their captains license. There will be a total of 37 videos once completed.
Rocking and rolling buddy but fish in the cooler well worth it🤙🤙
Thank you buddy!
Hello, I live in Key Largo. I just liked and subscribed to your channel. I found your channel via the Chit Show. I live in Key Largo at mile marker 103, behind “West Marine” That ride home must have been “fun”. Next time your down stop by and say hello. Brian
Awesome! Thank you for the support! On that day we rode all the way back through the ocean! Rough 2 hour ride back!
Watching those swells build would have sent me into shore! Glad it was a successful day for you.
Thank you very much and thanks for the support!
Great demonstration. Thank you! Do you prefer to rig your Mahi belly bait fresh, vacuum and freeze it or freeze the mahi belly, rig the bait right before the swordfish fishing trip?
The honest answer is that by the time I get back from fishing and clean the fish and the boat I’m exhausted. I separate them and vacuum seal them and then I rig it and freeze them again. I have never had an issue with it but I would imagine the baits will stay fresher if you don’t thaw them out and refreeze them but you won’t have any issues freezing them and rigging them when you are going to fish or a day when you have time to rig a few baits and vacuum seal them. It is very important that you do vacuum seal them when you catch them and when you rig them. That will make a big difference versus not vacuum sealing them.
Really like this series very informative…should do something on buying/financing boat purchase….boat prices are very high even for a 27” boat almost as much as a house. Not sure if there is anything there but never bought a new boat pros vs cons with new or used boats
Thanks for the support! Boat prices are ridiculous right now and it takes forever to get a new build from any manufacturer because everyone has wait lines so you have to give your deposit to hold your place in the line. Buying a new boat, while expensive is nice because you get to design it the way you want for the fishing application that you do. Buying a used boat can be tricky because you have no idea what that boat has been through from a maintenance prospective and any accidents. I have seen boats that people have purchased with hull damage that was patched up and they didn’t know when they purchased it. Ocean Runner is the manufacturer that built my boat and they have been in business in Miami for over 30 years. Excellent boat, and very affordable compared to the big name brands. They make a 24, a 29 and are starting in a 34.
Nice time for you and your son. Glad you had a good trip. Can't wait for late August when they are off the Jersey coast!
Once they get up there in August, how long can you guys fish them for?
@@pescatarianfishing They can show up just offshore toward end of July and can be found right through September. No size limit or closed season here and 10/person or 60/boat limit. Those in the photo I attached to my email to you were 16 miles out, all around a weather buoy.
@KM.130 that is really cool that you guys can fish them for a couple of months. They are fun to catch and delicious to eat!
Special times with you and your son.
100%. He has been fishing with me since he was 3. I love those days when it’s just us. Very special.
"Oh Nelly" is my new catch phrase!! 🎉 Awesome job guys!!! 🙌
This is a very quotable video
Thank You!!
@Barzano6390 thanks for the support!
Thank you good info
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the support!
Great video, thanks
Glad you liked it! Thank you for the support!
This is pretty cool!
Thank you! 👍
Very helpful. Thanks Capt.
Thank you and thanks for the support!
@@pescatarianfishing I tried to find the shift option on my Echomap 94sv, but unfortunately couldn’t find it following your directions. It must not be offered on my model or there’s another way to get to it. I’ll keep trying because that is a game changing feature. Thanks again for sharing. Sent from my iPhone
@capt.tonydupree it might not be available on that model. It really makes a massive difference when targeting bottom structure and bottom fishing.
Thanks. Informative.
Thank you!
Will the radar show a AIS and DSC ALARM when all is connected by nmmi 2000?
Great question Joe. I am unsure about that one. I have my system connected with NEMA 2000 but I’m not sure about that one.
Thank you I really appreciate you posting this. 🤙🏼
You are welcome. Just trying to help the viewers because this is such a difficult decision when buying your electronics for the boat. The last thing you want is to spend all that money and then be unhappy with what you purchased. The other thing that is important is knowing all of the different settings and what they do because it can make a world of difference in your image. We have a video showing the shift feature. This is what we use when we are sword fishing and we can mark the squid on the bottom in 1500 feet. I am now working on a video to go through all of the sonar settings one by one to show the viewers exactly what it does. This way everyone knows and can tailor their unit to the fishery they are doing. I should be done with that one in a few weeks. I have several videos that I’m working on at once. That video will be a huge help also. 👍
Best tutorial I have found
Thank you very much for the support! We have several Garmin tutorials in our Garmin Marine electronics playlist.
Great video! How about some mutton and mahi recipes?
That’s a great idea! We can make some of those and post them! 👍
That's insane. What's a day!
It was a long day, waiting for the right ones! Thanks for the support!
Thank you for these great instructional videos.
Glad you like them! Thanks for the support!
I appreciate your short tutorial. It was helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the support!
Pedro, I would say 20% bravery and 80% insanity. The roll you were getting was insane. I missed your video the other day, but I saw your clip on Alfred's channel this morning and had to go back to watch it.
I honestly knew it was going to be horrific weather but we tried it because our poor neighbor wanted to fish but it is terrible to be soaking wet all day and then to have the mics get damaged. It was a day we will always remember that’s for sure. Thanks for watching and thanks for the support!
@pescatarianfishing as they say, there are no bad days fishing, only bad days at work.
@johngauntlett4915 that is true! 👍
I’m with you brother… I fish out of marathon and two Sundays ago me and my brother spent on a beautiful day 5 -6 hrs at swordfish ground without a single bite .. we were able to save the day late afternoon with a couple of blue lines and two groupers for dinner….. BUT EVEN THOUGH WAS AN AWESOME DAY IN THE WATER.
Those days are tough. I have spent many days on the sword grounds staring at that rod tip without a bite. Those are long tough days. But you have to get out there to catch them. Some days it’s quick and some days it’s a long process. Thanks for watching and thanks for the support!
Looks like an awesome day for fishing! Wish I was out there with you! Take it easy!🎣😎🌴
The weather was beautiful and the fish were chomping, only problem was that they were too small. Still managed to get some good dinner but it took all day. Thanks for the support!
Thanks for sharing ! Good to know this.
Thanks for the support. We are currently working on some more Garmin videos to continue to help our viewers. Thanks for the support!
That was pretty easy. Thanks!
You're welcome! 👍
Omg that drove my anxiety through the damn roof! 😱😫 But the ending was so worth it! 😍
The baby loved the dolphin. 👍
Ok, what birds??? Is this fishing lingo I'm not getting? 😅
No fishing lingo, they are actual birds. The fish in the ocean are chasing bait to eat and they will push the bait balls to the surface, then the birds out there who are also chasing the bait fish to eat can dive down on the bait fish at the surface and eat them. So if you find the birds, you will find the fish.
Ohhhhh! So you literally follow the birds. And is it only for dolphin or other fish as well?
@lilyrivera392 works for all pelagic species. The birds will lead you to the fish. 👍
PRECIOUS!!!
Thanks for the support!
Well, you just spoilt her. Now she’ll be fishing with you all the time like starting tomorrow.😂
Im hoping to take her out for her first day of fishing this summer. Need to wait for a good day hopefully I will have a fishing buddy!
Think I’m getting seasick I just watching this😂 I don’t see how y’all done it. I’m glad y’all had a good time.❤
Thanks for the support!
What would you say the seas were running that day?
Seas were 4-6 with occasional 7+. Not a comfortable day at all.
The weather was terrible! All of Miami got flooded on this same day. Would I do it again? Hell No 😂
…. Until next year!
Super helpful content. Thank you! Quick question. What is the size of the reliable kill bag you are using? They also have a few blanket options. Any good?
The one that I have is the blanket. We just roll it up and bungee it under the gunnel to save space. We have the 50”x105” and it is awesome. When we get a big sword that doesn’t fit in the front box we slide it in the blanket and fill it with ice. From the sword grounds to my house is about an hour and a half to two hours and when we get home the swordfish is ice cold.
Capt. this is a timely video considering the sea plane (aka float plane) and boat accident up in Coal Harbour located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Many are discussing if the sea plane was required to give way to the boat and how the rules of navigation apply between the two very different types of vessels. Check out Commercial and General Aviation Pilot Juan Browne on the Blancoliro YT channel for his assessment of the accident. He gives a good summary of the accident from a pilot's perspective and poses great questions to mariners regarding navigating rules of the road on water as that's beyond his area of expertise. As always, excellent content.
What up Pedro! Great video, very informative. Do you have any videos of using this this radar for finding fish, birds, life, etc? Looking to increase our odds for Tuna offshore!
Unfortunately not. I haven’t really tried to use the dome radar to look for birds. We use it daily for navigating and monitoring weather systems. I do a lot of navigating at night. It does have a bird feature on it in the gain menu. Thank you for the support!! 👍
This is super helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
That was brave! 😂
👍
For my Texas brethren, the Texas Outdoor Annual app is the equivalent to the 2nd app he mentions (FWC app). If you login to the app it will already have copies of your licenses and safety courses you have completed in it. It also lists current lake conditions. Also, If I were to be so bold as to mention a fifth app to consider, I would download either the Lowrance app, or One Boat Network app, or Garmin Connect app (for backing up and synching waypoints on your MFD of choice.
Thank you very much for sharing! The FWC app of for Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation. I would imagine every state would have one. Thank you very much for sharing the one for Texas!
Hi captain Pedro I just bought a used garmin reactor 40 SBW for Volvo penta with joystick/stern drives . After install I can’t get threw the first step in the dockside wizard. Every time I try and hit the button on my GHC 20 left or right to steer the outdrives I get a message on my ghc 20-“autopilot controller lost” . If I turn my steering wheel manually left or right on the same setup page I see the little diamond icon move as I’m turning the wheel. Also in my EVC D system/display in settings under “installed steering component” it now shows up that autopilot is there. The instruction diagram doesn’t show anything about connecting the Volvo penta autopilot gateway so I didn’t install that. Is there something I’m missing? Should I just skip dockside and go to sea trail? I hope you can help I’m totally stumped. Thanks
Unfortunately I don’t know anything about it with an inboard. If you are located here in Miami, you can try to reach out to Langer Krell. They are the leaders in marine electronics for sales and service and they can have a tech go out to meet you. My set up is with outboards.
Can you please do a full video on your screen and transducer set up
Thank you for the great idea. I cant believe I didn't think about that sooner. When I was getting our boat built I spent months researching what I wanted to go with. I will start working on it. that video idea can really help out a lot of people who are unsure what to install on their boat. Trial and error with marine electronics can be very frustrating and expensive. Thanks again for the idea, be on the lookout for the video in the upcoming weeks!
👏 I know it would definitely help me out. It seems to have no videos out there like that .
I started the research on all the specifications for what I have already so you and other people get a good understanding of what I have and if you were going to buy new, what is new from Garmin that is the replacement models for what I have. I have a busy week this week and next with fishing but I will work on the video between fishing trips. Should have it completed and posted by the end of this month
Thank you for the tip! What transducer are you running?
@SWFLOUTDOORS239 I am working in a video now to show exactly what I have installed in my boat, the compatible Garmin devices for what I have in case the viewer wants to retrofit their boat and then it will show the new models that have come out from Garmin that are the replacements for what I have. We should have it out in a couple weeks.
