    Your hands are not together. When crossing over the LH you must place the note perfectly so as to play with the RH. You aren’t doing this and it makes for a very juvenile understanding of this piece. The articulation must be clearer: too much pedal. Strive for mezzo staccato.

    Without a doubt, you are a pianist; I would therefore have great pleasure in listening to your version of this Scarlatti sonata, or another… Don’t hesitate to send me a link…

    Be quiet Bart, you aren’t trying to be constructive, you’re just being a pretentious clown and you know it. You say ‘Strive for mezzo staccato’ as if Scarlatti wrote any articulation markings. Give a justification for it or else it’s just your personal preference off of instinct that you critique him for not adhering to. If he has a counter argument to your justification then it only adds to the art of interpreting baroque music. You say ‘too much pedal’ when his harmonies are very much clear, you have to provide a better reasoning or keep your mouth shut. I wouldn’t play this Scarlatti in the same manner as Mr Jean Tatu here but this is a fine performance.

    Что характерно, эта его вещь очень похожа на Шопена, ну прямо некоторые гармонические ходы и пассажи...У зрелого Рахманинова уже более чётко свой стиль

    This much rubato in a baroque piece? I don’t think so

  • @jeantatu8573
    @jeantatu85739 күн бұрын

    When I was a young student, I remember a lecturer who came to tell us how to play baroque: a purist to his fingertips, he condemned for example the double concerto of Bach by Oistrakh and Menuhin, judging it interpreted in a way that was too romantic! On the other hand, according to him, Scarlatti for example could only be played on the harpsichord, and where there were strings, baroque instruments with baroque bows were absolutely necessary… Which raises quarrels between purists without any real solution. With such reasoning, then certainly I play perhaps too flexibly (to speak of "rubato" would be excessive in my opinion); but we would have to condemn most of the Scarlatti interpreters on the piano. The balance that I tried to approach: without ever falling into the "too much", letting myself be guided by the underlying dance from which the phrasing emerges, while also taking my pleasure, without misplaced taste. That said, I understand those who prefer stricter interpretations… Here, the musicians will never be able to agree completely. And then, as for Scarlatti, don’t they say that he is “the most romantic of the baroques”! With all due respect, Jean Tatu

    @@jeantatu8573 thanks. But even romantic music can be distorted beyond recognition. Look what Ivo Pogorelich did to Rachmaninov second piano concerto. This particular Scarlatti performance was a bit much for me. Horowitz played these romantically AND with rhythmic integrity

    Ah, comme cette musique m'as prit sans déffensse. Jamais écoutté et jai subbit au eaux et le vertige sans pitié de la douleurs du compositeur et du compasse de l'exécution presque funèbre, si proffonde de l'artiste et pianiste. Ils on du quelque secondes puis du commencement de cette interpretation pour lancer mon âme dans les larmes du musicien qui a créé les mémoires de ses chagrins et des êchos reprises par l'artiste qui a interprété sa musique de manière qu'on subbit toutes au même douleurs. Quelle seras-t-elle son histoire celle du compositeur et que seras-t-elle celle du pianiste qui nous font coincider avec la douleur de cette musique? Voilá une conversion preque réligieuse qui nous unissent dans les tempêtes d'être humain! la musique resta déjà inscrite si vivante dans mon esprit et ma chaire que je marchais toute la journé au même compasse funèbre, ensuite. J'ai du l'écouter et lire les note afin de récupèrer ma vitalité. Sans pouvoir m'élibérer, je laisse la preuve de la désolation sublime que cette musique laisse dérière de son première êcoutte dans mon âme.

    Merci beaucoup pour votre commentaire.❤ Cette danse, comme nourrie de douleur noble, déambule hors du temps de manière quasi hypnotique, telle une vie…si on est en mesure de l’observer avec recul. La couleur de ce menuet me fait penser au poème de Musset « le pélican » /…/ Les plus désespérés sont les chants les plus beaux, et j’en sais d’immortels qui sont de purs sanglots /…/
