Hey Shane, this is a live performance from over 25 years ago in 1998. I’m a musician as well, and have been in many bands that have toured America and put out records on independent labels and such, and I personally very much so love a drummer that lays into the drums like this. In fact, I’m at a point where I wouldn’t bother playing in a band if the drummer didn’t have some power to his playing. My favorite drummers all hit the drums pretty hard too: Mike Jordan (the Crash) Sean Rule (Plow United) Jon Theodore (Mars Volta, One Day As a Lion, Queens of the Stone Age) Jason Roerder and Emil Amos (Sleep) I was in a band with one of the above drummers (Mike Jordan) and I was unable to hear my guitar coming through a half stack on stage 3 feet behind me because he hits so hard. It’s not just some caveman thing with enjoying. It’s the propulsion and power. He would drive that fucking bass drum right through you. You’d feel your pant leg poof out with each cannon like kick like a wind was blowing. He is an amazing drummer and the combination of his playing and the power and force behind it was exhilarating and was the motor, the driving force behind that band. Oh, the amp head was 100w. Solid State (sharing a back line sucks), but still.

These guys were really there right on the heels of Nirvana, Green Day... same time as blink-182. What an era. Great video. (Not that the bands I mentioned were "sooo amazing", just a really cool era of stripped down music)
