  So about 8.5 hearts average damage pershot. Not that impressive since you can harm yourself up close plus you have to put fireworks in the off hand unfortunately.

  Good point, but there is more to it. Bow More damage, especially with power 5 Flame Infinity and easily used with arrows More versatile, you don't have to fully charge to use Cheaper to craft than a crossbow Crossbow Quick charge is nice Being able to charge ahead of time is a huge plus Multishot is good for area damage. Piercing (i prefer multishot though) if that's your thing Because bows are capped at 12 damage, instant damage arrows dont rly do much with power 5. Not with crossbows though! Dont have to decide between mending and something else. FIREWORKS. The downside is the invincibility frames will mean only the damage of 1 firework will be applied.

  @@7thsky585 Literally the only edge multishot has over piercing is for to preload them with fireworks and spam them towards the enemy. Otherwise piercing much more versatile, uses less durability, goes through shields (EXTREMELY useful at pvp, especially if you have potion arrows and they are not expecting that), allows you to pick up the arrow that went through your enemy, and in my experience is more effective at fighting a group of mobs than multishot, as mobs tend to line up. Firework crossbows are somewhat overrated, they do less damage than a power 5 bow, the distance is limited (the firework will set off after flying for some time) so you can't snipe people with it like you can with a normal bow/crowssbow. For those reasons it can only be used in very specific scenarios, at least in my experience.
