I just received my 61 and have spent some time with it, and heres my opinion. The frets are WAY too small, supposed to be the same vintage tall as my 73 and 72 tele, and it absolutely is not, its like banjo frets.. And they are sharp, and the fretboard isnt rolled well at all. In my opinion the guitar is great the neck suuuuuucks! It feels flat radius with a wide nut, it does not feel like 1.65 or 7.25. I have other AVRIs and side by side, the frets are not vintage tall like the others. The nut feels like 1-11/16 wide the radius feels like 12”. No seriously compared it to my Gibsons, and I have many, and this feels like an SG slim taper. I am sending it back ASAP. Sweetwaterwants to make it a pain in the ass, but they will take this piece of junk that hurts to play back, and exchange it or refund me. It was a floor model demo so it was played, I got it for 1500 and change. To make it playable, it needs frets yanked, fretboard blocked, edges rolled, and refretted with actual 6105 vintage tall frets, or bigger, to get a rounder radius feel this neck sucks and I recommend not buying it. Unless you play one first and just love it.

Great video. If the wood is not aged, you will get fret sprouting...from shrinkage. Hopefully the one I ordered has a mature neck. Production-custom, unfortunately they have to be cost effective. The pick up cavity is not shielded, so needs to be insulated. Hey, they figured if you want the original 60 sec humm...there you go!

They go for around $2500 - $3000US. For that price they should be immaculate. The gap and the high E string off the neck is unacceptable for the price. I got a 2000 American Series Strat for a third of the price and it was perfect. No quality control issues at all.

I have a 57 magnatone, and thats honestly what you need. Its small, way lighter than either and super nice sounding. Its a rebrand “Harmophone super 130,” I got it for 350 around the turn of the century, but they’re still much more affordable than the real magnatones. It has ruined all other amps for me, but I’m hoping to one day get my hands on one of the new Magnatones to see if they REALLY made a Magnatone. It is nice to have a brand new amp though for gigging and traveling etc. so iI’m really hoping they do. And that a few thousand dollars will fall out of the sky…and rent.

I had a couple MIM strats and teles with the high e string on the edge of the fret and loosening the neck plate screws and moving the neck didn't helped it enough. I recently bought the American Performer Strat Arctic white with RW board and it was 100% perfect out of the box with a perfectly set up floating trem. I am going to buy the American Vint II in the near future and if there is any wrong with it other than a truss rod adjustment due to the weather and minor set up tweaks it will be return for another one.

With my Stapleton Princeton I use the Boss FRV-1 '63 Fender Reverb. Perfect solution. I dig reverb effect, but I prefer the lack of it in tube amps, it complicates the electrical design. You have the Surfy Reverb tank too, a revision of the old ‘63 Fender brown tank.

This is from personal experience, but I've had 3 USA fenders with nitro, 2 with the maple fretboard and yeah, my experience was that is was a sticky neck. (2 AO and one parallel universe) The one with rosewood didnt bother me, but the ample ones yeah, feeling the stickiness on the tip of my fingers made it an unpleasent experience for me. The Urethane fenders with maple, like the standards or professionals didnt feel sticky on the fretboard. I hd the AO 50's tele before, was great though, but sold it. Recently grabbed a Vineras 50's Modified Tele (that is like the same as the Baja Tele), and damn! all those little things I didnt like of the AO, this are covered. 1- The Vintera 50's modified has a satin neck on the back and is uretahne on the fretboard, dont feel any stickiness at all and enjoy it is satin. 2- The frets are medium jumbo, and are not as small as the stock of the AO, that felt really tiny. 3- The neck is a thick soft V that is very nice to the hand. I loved the U shape of the AO, but this one I might like it even more. 4- Love that the neck is tinted yellow. the AO in particular was very white and is just cosmetic, but prefer it tinted. 5- the pickups. the AO are very good, very classic tele. But for my taste, the CS pickups on this one, the broadcaster on the bridge and twisted on the neck I like them better. the bridge has that extar bit of power that I missed, and the neck has that stratty character that I really like. QC, thought the switches or etails on the MIM wouldnt be as good, but the knobs, tuners, toggle switch, bridge, all look same quality as USA. The fretboard edges are not as rolled as the AO, they do more work in those I can see, but suprised on how nice this MIM is. Just sharing my point of view. Great video!!! Love the series youve made on the AVII
