    Was Hwy 466 a single lane and in similar condition back in the day just as you walked on it in this video?

  • @JimHinckleyAmerica
    @JimHinckleyAmerica7 ай бұрын

    U.S. 466 was a paved two lane highway. But as with Route 66 in the 1930s it was narrow, and in places steep. On sections of this segment there is broken asphalt, but I suspect that at some point it was removed.

    Yes! Take a look at Pontiac, Illinois. It is an amazing little town full of attractions and surpises. As a bonus within sixty miles in any direction you will find an array of gems including Funks Grave Nature Preserve, charming Atlanta, Illinois and lots of sites associated with Abraham Lincoln.

    Cool talk with Wade; the Road Fest is already listed on the OC,SH EVENTS website page. The more I learn, the less I know. So true. A bit aggravating in some ways. When I learn new details-information, I almost immediately start wondering what other connections or tidbits I am missing.

    These stories SHOULD make me a little less apprehensive about continuing my own road trips. Before I leave, I'm always a little nervous about what *might* happen. But, once I'm actually on the road, I'm generally just fine. :)
