Grew up ON Esplanade Clifton Beach/Palm Cove 80's and 90's..... Sailed nearly every weekend and some days after school around and to Double Island and the Smaller Island with my younger brother and a mate.. I was 10, brother 8 and mate 12 ( he had sailed around the world with his parents and settled down at Clifton ) We ended up be pretty good sailors, would go out in cyclonic weather for fun. The smaller Island you visited is technically "Haycock" Island but everyone local call is "Scouts Hat", If you look at it from a distance you will see why. There was WAY WAY less houses and people back then. No Jetty, No resorts, not many, no golf course etc. We had the place to ourselves. They built a Resort on Double Island, the Original first one approx 1983 ish. It was literally 90% complete, ALL built Balinese type thatched roofs etc, Full Bar, Restaurant, Pool/spa ( Pool filled and ready to go ), accommodation you name it. All it needed was like Bar fridges filled beds in room and some fittings. ..... WELL, it went into liquidation just before completion, i reckon they could have opened for business in a month. When it went into liquidation, they just walked away.... NO CARETAKER.... well, we thought we were KINGS of the world.... a brand New Island Resort left to Us. We had a great run for about 3 or 4 years. No one else went there, i mean no one, it wasn't really known about. ( this was before it finally was rebought, finished, and the A-Listers came for a few years.... it eventually went broke again )..... It was like something out of a novel or movie.....ps..pool went green in 2 weeks so that was a bummer.
Hey guys how do you rate the Dunn & Watson fridge slide? I need one for my tub and was leaning towards MSA but these ones really caught my eye and the price is good too. Have you had any issues with it? Does it extend out far enough? Keen for any feedback please. Cheers.
