As a kid growing up in Toronto, Canada, I was a die hard Leafs fan. I was very young when Garry was a Maple Leaf, but I do remember the big trade to the Detroit Red Wings, and the later trade to the St.Louis Blues. That trade to the Blues happened just after my 10th birthday. It was those early days in 1971 right through Garry's whole career that he became one of my very favorite players. As a 12 year old, I wore # 7 in my first year of playing minor league hockey. With his long blonde hair, good looks, and the admiration of girls everywhere, Garry seemed like a Rock Star who played in the NHL. It's wonderful to see, hear and know that he's a spiritual man too, and one with a message of humour & sadness too. He's always been an inspiration and continues to be.
15:47 Thank you for your testimony Garry. You were my favorite Blue growing up. Thank you for a great message.
One of the most feared Rochester Americans ever. War Memorial was like the Spectrum in 1973. Not a nice place to play.
It’s wonderful that you addressed the tragic events surrounding Gasoff’s death. I remember the day I heard about his death. It was a tragic day for all Blues fans and players.
Wow blast from the past. Ungar was my childhood hero growing up in st Louis. He was the face of the organization for many years and winning the MVP in the all star game was a huge thrill for me and for all Blues fans

What a wonderful message. Garry was/is my favorite Blues player in history. I still do not understand why he is not yet in the Hockey Hall of Fame! So shameful. One day he will be there. That's what I believe. Thank you Garry for all the memories! God Bless You!!
YOu were my favourite in the 70s, waiting for the Blues to retire your number.
God Bless Garry Unger! If you only knew how many lives you changed.
My Dad took me to the Blues games back then, I watched all of you guys play hockey and where i learned about the game. You were my favorite, Mr. Unger.
One of the most respected goons to come into the Spectrum.
One of my all-time faves...
One tough hombre.
Paul Altmeye
He's a class act.
Tell it like it was ..Respect.
A lot of these stories I heard from Garry when we roomed together or sat together on road trips when he played in " Dundee Scotland" for the Rockets. All that he said at the rostrum has made sense about the man I watched on and off the ice. He is the best player I have been with. His Bible was always with him and he would read a part to me and ask what my thoughts were. I would give my analogy and he would accept my view as my own. I thank God for Garry. God bless him and keep him.
I still have your hockey card Bill.
@@blueslover9351 what my licence?
Legend.
Go to 2:30 to skip the lame intro.
That's my grandfather! R.I.P. Love you!
I'm very proud of my brother. Well done Rick.
He was talking about winning against the North Stars, then having a BBQ at the farm, when Gassoff died.
@azcactus2008 He wasnt talking about 1972!!!
With all due respect for Garry Unger, he seems to have mixed some memories. The Blues played the North Stars and won game seven in 1972. And Kevin O'shea scored the winning goal, not Danny. The part about Bob Gassoff dieing in 1977 is correct.
azcactus2008 He coached Danny O’Shea in Peterborough uk , He just mixed the names by mistake
great coach, was one of my first, I will never forget him.
Fantastic speech..Wow Mark....Vince Jones
Great video.......I learned to skate and play hockey at winterland..Olsen whiworth hockey school...Winterland was the only indoor rink then...How nice of Noel to recognize Bill Waechter....
