I do not understand what Synology has to do with this replacing of the original server. This small company did not hire an IT person to fix this for them and now they clearly do because you are installing all kind's of software that they must maintain, or are you the one reselling the NAS and maintaining their network and servers?

There is a small business customer of mine that has been advised of this very scenario. It is inevitable but when it happens, it may not be recoverable. This event is costly when it occurs. Thanks for sharing this unfortunate event but glad you are there to set things right. I haven't tinkered with Proxmox but will start soon.

Hello mate, how about you make a video of how to securely set up a gaming server on one of the Protectli ports running pfsense with two open ports? I'm trying to set up a server that will run Windowsgsm and Icarus and RUST games and won't get hacked and compromise the rest of the network. Regards

Just what I was looking for. Unfortunately mine did not work. There appears to be a long standing issue where the created flash drive won't load the files or will hang indefinitely. Mine gets stuck on "loading operating system" when trying to boot from the flash drive. I've had similar issues with Linux Mint. Oddly my windows 10 pro boot flash drive does not have this problem. Wish I knew what was technically wrong.

Thanks for the video mate, just upgraded from 4 x 8TB drives to 4 x 12TB drives, which turn up tomorrow. I would recommend (if you haven't done it already) that you explain to people how to "shuck" external drives to internal drives for a NAS, WD Elements drives for example :) people can save money buying the WD Elements drives for NAS purposes, that's what I've done! Well explained video, thank you, I've got low drive space at the moment, so I get a Warning on the Storage Pool due to low available space, but if I follow the steps how you explained I should be fine I think.

What happens if a site loses connection, and has multiple WANs. Does it automatically recover? and if so, can you do unbreakable vpn, where it sends data down redundant tunnels? so you dont lose a packet? the end-user clients don't feel a drop in connection when there is failover???? There really is no documentation for SD-WAN Magic site....

@TechMeOut5 i have a mounting the NFS share. so i have created the NFS share on the synology (identical to yours), and them mounted it in fstab, however after manual mounting (and rebooting PBS), i can't see any of the contents of the NFS share in PBS. i suspect this is a permissions issue but not sure where specifically. does there need to be a corresponding "backup" user on the NAS itself? i usually mount shared folders from the NAS using CIFS (which i have done on the main PVE), and that works fine, but i haven't used NFS before.

Hi, can I use Unifi Express in gateway mode and connect Unifi Access Point (AC AP Lite) wirelessly using meshing or wireless uplink? I'm deciding to expand WiFi signal coverage and choosing an additional AP with an existing Unifi Controller or UnifiExpress that acts like a controller and Access Point.

What does exactly "shelf router" mean? I don't get it :(

@@TechMeOut5 so my Microtik HaPc2 is also shelf router?

  • @TechMeOut5

@@immickful lets summerize this: an off the shelf router means you can buy the product yourself, directly from a store. i will not be able to discuss with you certain device models and if they are considered "off the shelf" or not. if you like pfsense go ahead and install it, if not, than dont. there is no point in lingering on the "off the shelf" terminology
