Back in the day before hydraulic steering we had cable steering. Jack plates allowed you to find the sweet spot of neutral steering and this is how I used to set my hydraulic jack back in the day.

The angle is wrong. The ladder needs to be angled outward to even have a chance of getting a foot on the bottom step. It’s also mount too high.

In what position should the jack plate be while towing? At 3 inches or 5" or all the way down?

What's missing in this? ... .Lund aluminums come with motors bolted to the transom. The hull is already tuned for that mount. What's the extra torque on that type of transom when the motor is moved out 4", 8" etc. then? Warranties are automatically void then also. It used to be "if the hull is not designed for a jack plate, adding 1 is detrimental" but I never saw how though

He's right about what jackplates do; he's wrong about Atlas and T-H Marine. It's a piece of junk. Try Bob's Machine Shop.

Do yall sell these in Australia these would be great up our salt and fresh water rivers where all the big barra and crocs live but are often super shallow and fall of lots of underwater structure like fallen trees and snags and if your motors to low witch it often is even trimmed up you aint getting down that river

At least there is a video to show the basic principles for the install. I just got these lights and literally, no instructions regarding what size fuse to use and did not explain the two different mounting options that was clarified in this video.

Just bought a xpress h18 bass with a 6 inch jack plate, one of yours actually. I was really surprised at how much of the motor is in the water with it tilted all the way down for a hole shot. It looks like the seal for the cowling is in the water. My dealer says that is how it is supposed to be set up. Is this true? Thanks for the video

I was told you can break your steering arm with the jack plate. I'm not sure how you could do that, but I am a prime candidate for making it happen if it can happen. Any insight on this?

I see Soooo many non professional things in this Vid. # 1 Did not use a countersink on each of the holes drilled on the outside to chamfer the Gellcoat. By Not doing that the gellcoat radiates spider cracks around the holes. #2 The junk connectors used. STOP using that CRAP! Use a crimp / shrink connector... If it's in the bilge on on a trailer where it could be submerged... Some added Liq elec tape brushed on. Yes I say your heat shrink.... Bet it didn't have glue in it. Stop using a open flame to heat shrink... Use a Heat gun..

How is a jackplate going to help you get up on plane in shallow water if the prop is bowing out. First off set backs make your boat take off weird. You are better off getting as close to the boat transom as you can. 4" setback. Use a hydrofoil on the lower unit or trim tabs on the transom. You want a straight back rooster tail, not an up in the air rooster tail.

It sure would be nice if you guys at T-H Marine would produce a "quality" Relay Harness, like the quality you put into your Jack Plates. The relay harness on these JP's burnout WAY too often. Other than that, I love my Atlas Hydraulic Jack Plate. Peace, be safe, tight lines.

Would a 6” manual or hydraulic make a difference in performance on an 18’-10” boat? I’m wanting one, but I would like to know what kind of performance I should expect. Thanks in advance!

Why would you market it this way? Why smash your boat on shore? Just take the dam bungee and hook it to the dock.... or here's a though tie the dock like to the dock and back the boat in

Would've "liked" you to have given a brief overview of the main jack plate components that T-H MARINE incorporates in their units. The self-lubricating "risers" in your hydraulic jack plates are a HUGE selling point for me, personally, and some mention of the various models, i.e.: "Standard, Heavy Duty, etc." Other than that? Enjoyed your video.

Motor is 2 low the further you go out the higher you must go the water goes up as it comes off the back of the boat.
