I like this movie and the interesting concept, but sometimes I can't stand Prot's overt contempt. He keeps calling every other being in the universe (especially humans) an animal compared to his "KPAX" people. Sometimes I just want to punch him and knock the alien out of his head. Great movie though. It gets you thinking.

Fortunately for us such acceleration does not take place. It would probably take all the energy in a supernova to accelerate a proton so much that it would weigh 1 kg. So there is no need to worry for any hyper-accelerated extraterrestrial particles crashing into earth. The odds of such an event are extremely unlikely

Photons, the quanta of light, are by themselves massless nor can they gain any mass. They already travel at the maximum speed allowed for anything in our universe. Photons do not experience this increase in weight. A particle at rest velocity will have its mass increased when it approaches c though. There is a limit to the amount of mass any particle can gain through acceleration towards c. Increasing the mass of a single proton this way to 1 kg for example would take huge amounts of energy.

@Gigano1986 correct me if i am wrong. there are no terminal velocity in space, because of no drag; in you explanation of Einstein theory, max speed in universe is near light of speed, C will not exceed speed of 180K m/s, but instead you say the item or particle gain mass. Thus a beam of light/ or a stone from another solar system, will accelerate to 180K m/s, and the particle will gain enormous mass when it hit earth ... it will destroy the atmosphere or earth ? ?

  • @Gigano

Einstein's theory of special relativity is applicable to everywhere where there is spacetime. Our entire universe consists of matter and energy interacting in this spacetime fabric. So his theory is applicable to anywhere in our universe, outer-space, other planets: everywhere. Terminal velocity is only applicable to a situation concerning fluid dynamics and aerodynamics. Terminal velocity in reached because of drag. In the near vacuum of space there is no medium to cause such a drag.

"The only way to traverse the vast distances of space is to possess the means of manipulating, or altering, the very structure of space itself-altering the space-time geometric matrix which, to us, provides the illusion of form and distance. The method of achieving this lies in the alteration of the frequencies controlling the matter-antimatter cycles that govern our awareness or perception of position in the space-time structure. Time itself is a geometric, just as

Mass = stored inertia. If matter is capable of flipping into a wave, that inertia is no longer stored and would be capable of embedding into a longer wave & multiplying recursively at phi ratio through the speed of light or beyond.

dont do it...its no use...no sciens today or ever in the future can solve the space traveling...there is a secret written in the tomb of king tutt that explains it...you have to go beyond the speed of light to be able to travel... if you lern the writings of king tutt you will be able to time travel and space travel at the same time wich will make you get where you want in a flash of light and not stay and wait on a rocket many years at the time

A rock travelling at 100 mph is heavier than the rock travelling at 1 mph, but the effect is negligible. At speeds near the speed of light (c, which is ~180,000 miles/second) the effect becomes much more noticeable. If you accelerate mass towards c, you reach terminal velocity at one point: you can't go faster, so instead you get heavier (gain more mass). This effect is noticeable in electrons which have little or no mass, but because they travel near the speed of light they do have some mass.

That is incorrect. In standard SI units the units for mass are Kilograms (kg) and the units for weight are Newtons (N). However, most people use mass when they are weighing things in their everyday lives and although that has become accepted it is not correct
